• Sits down Thursday
Fairchild isn't in the Reds' lineup Thursday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Fairchild has gone 3-for-16 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored since the beginning of May. He will sit on the bench for the third game in a row Thursday while Conner Capel, Will Benson and Jake Fraley man the outfield. Rotowire.com Today, 2:41 pm

  • Joey Wiemer (knee) starts rehab assignment
Joey Wiemer (knee) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday with Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Wiemer landed on the injured list earlier this month with left knee discomfort and could wind up remaining in the minors once his rehab assignment is up. Rotoworld Today, 2:20 pm

  • Absent from lineup
Nevin is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Houston.

Advice: Nevin's production has cratered in May (3-for-39) and with that his playing time has also slipped. He's now started just half of the Athletics' last 10 games, and the last time he was in the lineup versus a right-hander he was down in the No. 8 spot. Rotowire.com Today, 1:30 pm

  • Angels send Niko Goodrum to minors
Angels optioned INF/OF Niko Goodrum to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: Goodrum played in four games for the Angels, going 0-for-13 with four strikeouts and two walks. With Luis Rengifo coming off the IL, Goodrum will head to the minors to provide the organization with valuable positional depth. Rotoworld Today, 10:38 am

  • Sent to Triple-A
The Angels optioned Goodrum to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

Advice: Goodrum was claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay last Thursday, and he went 0-for-13 in four games with the Angels. He will now return to the minors, making room for Luis Rengifo's (illness) return from the injured list. It's possible Goodrum returns later this year if the Angels continue to struggle with infield depth, but he has proven to be an offensive liability throughout his seven-year career in MLB. • Records third steal Wednesday
Raley went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a stolen base in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Raley delivered a timely single in the eighth inning that plated pinch runner Leonardo Rivas, extending the Mariners' lead back to two runs after Bobby Witt had brought the Royals within one in the top half of the frame. Raley's multi-hit effort was an extension of a torrid stretch at the plate for the offseason addition, one that's seen him generate a .435 average and 1.219 OPS over the last seven games. • Doubles in IL return
Canzone (shoulder) went 1-for-3 with a double and a run in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Activated from the injured list earlier in the day, Canzone helped give the Mariners some key breathing room by doubling in the seventh and then coming home with Seattle's third run. Canzone was seeing his first big-league game action in just over a month, having last played April 14. Now apparently back to full health after playing a full game in left field Wednesday, Canzone should be a fixture in the lineup against right-handed pitching moving forward. • Jon Berti starting at 3B for Yankees on Thursday
Jon Berti will start at 3B and bat eighth for the Yankees on Thursday against the Twins.

Advice: Berti has started four games at third base over the last week, with Oswaldo Cabrera starting two and playing second for another. Berti has gone 6-for-19 (.316) in six games since coming off the IL with two steals; however, Cabrera is 9-for-30 (.300) in 10 games in May with six strikeouts and two walks, so he’s certainly not giving the job up to Berti without a fight. The two are likely to rotate the vast majority of the games for the foreseeable future which hurts both of their fantasy upside. Rotoworld Today, 8:55 am

  • Steals third bag of season
Vargas went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Batting third against southpaw Garrett Crochet as Nats manager Dave Martinez desperately tried to spark his struggling offense, Vargas didn't make a big impact but was able to steal his third bag of the year, tying his career high. The 32-year-old utility player has been seeing semi-consistent starts in May, batting .294 (5-for-17) in nine games with three doubles, two runs and an RBI. He's already played 10-plus games at both second base and third base in 2024 while also seeing duty in left field (six games) and at shortstop (three games), giving him some fantasy value in deep NL-only formats.
