      Advice: Stone looked solid Friday night against a tough Atlanta lineup, generating 14 whiffs and five punchouts. His only blemish on the evening was a 449-foot solo shot allowed to Austin Riley in the first inning. Stone has made four straight starts allowing two or fewer runs, tossing a 2.35 ERA in 23 innings over that span. The Dodgers right-hander is slated to make his next start against the Marlins at home.       Austin Riley went went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in a loss to the Dodgers on Friday.

    • Gavin Stone limits Atlanta to one run over six
      Gavin Stone didn’t factor into the decision against Atlanta on Friday despite allowing just one run over six innings.

      Advice: Stone was excellent, but the Dodgers blew a late lead to prevent him from picking up the win. The 25-year-old threw 58-of-86 pitches for strikes while fanning five and issuing just one walk. Stone isn’t missing bats at an elite level, but it’s tough to argue with the results thus far.       Advice: Julien was stuck in an 0-for-11 drought since his last hit April 27. The lefty slugger drove in a run with a third-inning single before drawing a bases-loaded walk in the seventh.       Advice: The veteran lefty managed to keep the ball in the park, but after a scoreless first inning, Quintana got pecked to death by a barrage of singles and doubles in his shortest outing of the season. The rough performance tacked more than a run onto his ERA, and Quintana will carry a 5.20 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 25:16 K:BB through 36.1 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in St. Louis.       Advice: Both of the Giants' runs came in the second inning on a Thairo Estrada double, though it certainly could've been a lot worse -- Nola needed 46 pitches to get through the frame, issuing four walks. The right-hander was ultimately pulled after throwing 89 pitches through four innings, as he failed to qualify for the win. Nola, who'd gone eight innings in each of his previous two starts, is 4-1 on the season with a 3.32 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 40:15 K:BB across seven outings (43.1 innings).       Aaron Nola was lifted after allowing two runs and walking four in four innings Friday against the Giants.

      Advice: A really odd start for Nola, who pretty much always lasts five innings unless he’s truly bad or hurt. Tonight, though, he walked four for the second time this season — he did that just once between 2022 and ’23 — and the Phillies didn’t think it was worth sending him back out for the fifth at 89 pitches. They were probably right, too, as the bullpen went on to allowing one run over five innings in a 4-3 win. Nola’s velocity is down, and he’s struggled to generate as many missed swings as usual. The hope is that he’ll get stronger, and he probably deserves the benefit of the doubt, given his history.       José Quintana was absolutely obliterated in Friday night’s loss to the Rays, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits in just 2 2/3 innings of work.

      Advice: Woof. The 35-year-old left-hander also walked a batter while striking out two in the abbreviated outing. The Rays got to him early and often in this one, pushing three runs across in the second inning and adding five more while chasing Quintana in the third inning. Quintana got eight swings and misses on 65 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 22 percent. He’ll try to pick up the pieces and improve upon his suddenly-grotesque 5.20 ERA and 1.54 WHIP when he takes on the Cardinals in St. Louis on Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:40 pm

      Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw a successful bullpen session on Friday.

      Advice: The 25-year-old hurler will likely repeat the process another time or two before facing live hitters, but he’s trending in the right direction.
