    • Moves up to leadoff without Betts
Ohtani will start at designated hitter and bat leadoff in Monday's game in Colorado.

Advice: In the Dodgers' first game without Mookie Betts (hand), Ohtani slides up one spot and will be followed by Will Smith, who moves from cleanup to the two hole. Ohtani also hit leadoff once back on May 18 when Betts had a day off. It's the only two times this season he hasn't hit second. Rotowire.com 50 minutes ago

    • Making rehab start Wednesday
Padres manager Mike Shildt said that Darvish (groin) will make a rehab start Wednesday with High-A Fort Wayne, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The upcoming rehab start will take a potential return from the 15-day injured list off the table this week, but Darvish shouldn't need more than one tune-up outing in the minors before slotting back into the San Diego rotation. Darvish previously bypassed a rehab assignment when he was on the IL earlier this season due to neck tightness, but the Padres will act more cautiously with the right-hander this time around while he works his way back from a left groin strain that has thus far kept him out for three weeks. • Yu Darvish (groin) set for rehab start Wednesday
The Padres will have Yu Darvish make a rehab start with high-A Fort Wayne on Wednesday.

Advice: If that goes well, he’ll probably jump right back into the major league rotation at the beginning of next week. Darvish has been out since May 29 with a groin strain. Adam Mazur presumably will make one more start for the Padres this week. Rotoworld 51 minutes ago

    • In line to start Wednesday
Gibson (personal) is expected to be activated from the bereavement list in time for his next scheduled start Wednesday in Miami, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Gibson was officially placed on the bereavement list Sunday, but it won't cost him his next turn in the rotation after he misses the minimum three days. The right-hander tossed seven shutout innings versus the Cubs his last time out to lower his ERA on the season to 3.44. Rotowire.com Today, 8:39 am

    • Kyle Gibson to start Wednesday against Marlins
Kyle Gibson is expected to make his scheduled start on Wednesday against the Marlins.

Advice: Gibson was placed on the bereavement list over the weekend, but all indications are that he’ll be back in time to take the ball for Wednesday’s series finale against the Marlins down at pitcher-friendly loanDepot park. It’s certainly a favorable matchup for streaming purposes. Rotoworld Today, 8:31 am

    • Clobbers pair of homers
Ohtani went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs during Sunday's 3-0 win over the Royals.

Advice: Ohtani teed off on Brady Singer, tagging the Royals' starter for solo homers in the third and sixth innings for Ohtani's second multi-homer game of 2024. The 29-year-old is now up to 19 home runs on the season, tied for fourth-most in MLB. Ohtani owns a .976 OPS through 278 plate appearances and is the only player in baseball with at least 15 homers and stolen bases. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:33 pm

    • Throws five frames
Montas allowed three runs on four hits and three walks over five-plus innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out five during the loss to Milwaukee.

Advice: Montas rolled through four shutout frames before the Brewers finally pushed a run home in the fifth inning. He was removed after putting two straight runners on base to begin the sixth and was charged with both after Willy Adames launched a three-run homer. Montas took a no-hitter into the seventh inning against the Rockies on June 4 but has since been tagged with seven runs in just 6.1 frames over his last two starts. He now owns a 4.62 ERA with a 49:26 K:BB through 13 starts. Montas' next start is lined up to be at home against Boston. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:48 pm

    • Fans six in win
Rea (6-2) yielded three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk over six innings Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over the Reds.

Advice: Rea allowed a run in each of the first, third and fourth innings Sunday but limited the damage enough to deliver his second straight quality start. He forced nine swinging strikes, his best total since generating 11 against the Pirates on May 13. The 33-year-old righty has been very consistent over his last five starts, posting a 1.93 ERA with a 19:7 K:BB through 28 frames. Rea lowered his season ERA to 3.29 through 76.2 innings. His next start is lined up to be in San Diego. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:37 pm

    • Earns one-out save
Cano struck out the only batter he faced Sunday to earn the save against the Phillies.

Advice: Cano was called upon to clean up a bases-loaded situation with the tying run on deck and two outs in the ninth, earning his third save in the process. Cano earned the opportunity with usual closer Craig Kimbrel being rested after having pitched in each of the first two games of the series. While Cano maintains a prominent role in the Orioles' bullpen, Kimbrel has not allowed an earned run in over a month and maintains a strong hold on the closer role. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:41 pm
