      Bleday hit out of the leadoff spot for the fourth straight game in Tuesday's win over the Angels, going 1-for-4 with an RBI single.

      Advice: Bleday brought Brett Harris home with the final run of the night for Oakland in the sixth via a single, giving the former his 30th RBI of the season. Coming into the night, the talented outfielder had been mired in an 0-for-13 skid that had encompassed his previous three games, but that clearly hasn't discouraged manager Mark Kotsay from shifting Bleday back down the order for the time being.     • Handed tough-luck loss
      Singer (4-5) was saddled with the loss Tuesday versus Tampa Bay, allowing one earned run on three hits and three walks while striking out four batters in five innings.

      Advice: Singer was able to keep the Rays' bats relatively quiet Tuesday, as the only run scored against him came as a result of a wild pitch in the second inning. However, a lack of run support from his offense combined with a collapse of Kansas City's bullpen following a lengthy rain delay will cause the 27-year-old righty to take his third loss in five starts.     • Falls apart late
      Berrios (8-6) picked up the win Tuesday against Houston, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks with one strikeout across five innings.

      Advice: Berrios kept the Astros off the scoreboard until the fifth inning, where he unwound and allowed three singles, a hit-by-pitch and a three-run home run. Still, Berrios was able to snare a second straight win as the Blue Jays had compiled seven runs prior to the fifth. The 30-year-old has been shaky as of late, owning a 5.97 ERA with 17 strikeouts and eight home runs allowed over his last five starts. He's scheduled to face the Mariners on Sunday.       De La Cruz went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, a triple and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Yankees.

      Advice: De La Cruz took Caleb Ferguson yard in the fifth inning, extending the Reds' advantage to 5-0. The speedster also legged out his sixth triple of the season, his third in the last five games.       Sewald (0-1) took the loss and a blown save Tuesday versus the Dodgers, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out two in two-thirds of an inning.

      Advice: Sewald's 15.2-inning scoreless streak came to an end, and he also took his first blown save of the year. He labored in the ninth inning and ended up giving up a game-tying double to Freddie Freeman, who then scored on Teoscar Hernandez's walk-off single. Sewald is now 11-for-12 in save chances while sporting a 1.56 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB through 17.1 innings. He is unlikely to lose the closer job as long as he's with Arizona, though he's on a one-year contract for a struggling team and could be flipped before the July 30 trade deadline.       Paul Sewald suffered his first blown save of the season on Tuesday night, allowing two runs on three hits over 2/3 innings against the Dodgers.

      Advice: The 34-year-old stopper was called upon to protect a one-run lead in the ninth inning. He started off the inning by striking out Gavin Lux and Shohei Ohtani, but things got interesting as Will Smith smacked a two-out double on the first pitch that he saw, putting the tying run in scoring position. Freddie Freeman then fell behind 0-2 before lining a game-tying RBI double into right field. Teoscar Hernandez followed with a walk-off RBI single that ended it. Even with this setback, Sewald still holds a terrific 1.56 ERA and 0.63 WHIP over 17 1/3 innings on the season while converting 11 of his first 12 save opportunities.     • Brady Singer pitches well in loss to Rays
      Brady Singer pitched well in a losing effort against the Rays on Tuesday night, allowing one run on three hits over his five frames.

      Advice: Singer also issued three walks on a rainy evening in Kansas City while punching out four opposing hitters. The only run that scored against him came in the second inning as Richie Palacios scampered home on a wild pitch with two outs in the inning. The 27-year-old right-hander got 15 swings and misses on 88 pitches on the night — 10 of those on his slider — while posting a strong CSW of 32 percent. He’ll try to get back in the win column as he carries a 3.05 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and an 89/29 K/BB ratio (94 1/3 innings) into a tough matchup against the Rockies at Coors Field on Sunday.       Freeman went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two total runs scored in a 7-6 win over the White Sox on Tuesday.

      Advice: Freeman singled and scored in the fifth inning and added a two-run home run in the sixth. The 25-year-old slashed a miserable .167/.268/.264 in June but got off on the right foot in July with his first home run since June 9.       Jose Berrios allowed five runs on five hits in five innings in a win over the Astros on Tuesday.

      Advice: Berrios kept the Astros off the scoreboard for the first four innings, but the fifth inning was a bit of a disaster. The inning started with a hit by pitch and then a walk and then was followed by two singles and a home run to push five runs across the plate and end his day. The veteran has a 3.63 ERA on the year, but his underlying metrics suggest some regression is coming. Still, he should be able to survive a showdown against the Mariners this weekend.
