    • Swats third homer
Taylor went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, an additional run and a walk against the Yankees on Wednesday in a 12-2 victory.

Advice: Taylor's biggest contribution was a three-run blast in the sixth inning that essentially put the game on ice, giving the Mets a 10-2 lead. It was the outfielder's first homer since April 24 -- a span of 42 games and 94 at-bats. Taylor has made two straight starts in right field with Starling Marte (knee) on the injured list, so he may have a chance to turn around what has so far been a quiet first season as a Met. • Luis Matos collects two hits, homers vs. Cubs
Luis Matos went 2-for-3 with a solo homer in the Giants’ 4-3 win against the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: Matos was recalled after Mike Yastrzemski hit the injured list last week. He’s collected at least one hit in all four starts, including a solo homer in the fifth inning off of Drew Smyly on Wednesday. The 22-year-old outfielder is slashing .253/.272/.374 with three homers and 21 RBI across 103 plate appearances. Given his bat-to-ball skills and improved hard-hit rate, he should get a chance to continue improving on his .253 BABIP and could be relevant in five-outfielder leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:18 pm

    • Sitting down Wednesday
Slater isn't in the Giants' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Slater has gone just 1-for-11 with six strikeouts in his last five contests, and he'll now sit out for the second game in a row. Luis Matos will instead start in right field and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:12 pm

    • Sitting against lefty Wednesday
Grisham is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Advice: After cracking the starting lineup Sunday against Atlanta in the Yankees' first game following Giancarlo Stanton's (hamstring) move to the injured list, Grisham has now hit the bench for both contests against the Mets. The Yankees have faced left-handed starters for both matchups with the Mets, which may be the primary reason the lefty-hitting Grisham has been out of the lineup. Grisham could occupy the larger side of a de facto platoon with the right-handed-hitting J.D. Davis for the final open spot in the New York lineup while Stanton is on the shelf. • Filling in for Varsho again
Kiermaier will start in center field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Kiermaier will pick up his fifth consecutive start Wednesday, though Daulton Varsho is on the bench with a back injury for a fourth day in a row. The 34-year-old at least showed some signs of life at the plate with a three-hit performance in Tuesday's 9-4 win, and another strong game Wednesday could put Kiermaier back in the mix for more playing time in the outfield even after Varsho returns. Varsho could slide over to left field to make room for Kiermaier in center on a more frequent basis if the Blue Jays choose to scale back the playing time of Davis Schneider, who is hitting .135 dating back to June 6. • Exits rehab game with injury
Mitchell (finger) was removed from Wednesday's rehab game with Triple-A Nashville with an apparent left hamstring injury, Jack Stern of Brewer Fanatic reports.

Advice: Mitchell appeared to grab at the hamstring following a swing in the ninth inning of the contest. He is on a rehab assignment while coming back from a fractured finger and had seemed close to returning, but the hamstring injury could now delay things. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:09 pm
    • On bench against righty
Brennan is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Brennan will sit for the third time in four games, though Wednesday's contest marks the first occasion during that stretch that he's been on the bench against a right-hander (Grayson Rodriguez). Daniel Schneemann will occupy Brennan's usual spot in right field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:54 pm

    • Starting against right-hander again
Taylor will start in right field and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The right-handed-hitting Taylor has started in both of the Mets' first two games in right field since Starling Marte (knee) landed on the 10-day injured list, even as the opposition has sent a righty to the bump both times. DJ Stewart will also be in the right-field mix while Marte is shelved, but Taylor looks to be the preferred option for now. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:25 pm

    • Sitting amid slump
Rosario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Rosario typically hits the bench against left-handed pitching, but he'll take a seat Wednesday while a righty (Dylan Cease) toes the rubber for the Padres. Despite seeing limited exposure to same-handed pitching, Rosario has fallen into a slump at the plate lately, going 6-for-41 while failing to draw a walk in any of his last 12 games. The Nationals added another option at designated hitter to the roster Tuesday in Harold Ramirez, who is in the lineup Wednesday and could challenge Rosario for the top spot on the depth chart.
