• Nico Hoerner (hand) gets into Tuesday’s contest
Nico Hoerner (hand) made an appearance as a defensive replacement during Tuesday’s loss to the Rays.

Advice: Hoerner appears likely to avoid a trip to the injured list as he attempts to play through a small fracture in his right hand. The 27-year-old second baseman was held out of the lineup on Tuesday for the fourth straight contest, but was able to come off the bench as a defensive replacement in the late innings. The biggest question for fantasy managers is whether the lingering hand issue will impact his offensive performance moving forward, even if he doesn’t wind up requiring a lengthy absence. • Jeimer Candelario drives in a run in loss
Jeimer Candelario went 1-for-4 with an RBI in a loss to the Guardians on Tuesday.

Advice: Candelario got the scoring started with a run-scoring double off of Triston McKenzie in the first inning for his 27th RBI of the season. The 30-year-old has been picking it up of late, slashing .277/.338/.585 over his last 16 games with five home runs, nine runs, nine RBI, and two steals. Given his big contract in the offseason, he figures to remain in the Reds lineup every day even when Noelvi Marte comes back, shifting back to being the primary first baseman. Now could be the time to scoop up the Candy Man if he’s still on waivers in your league. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:36 pm

  • Héctor Neris implodes in loss to Rays on Tuesday
Héctor Neris blew a save on Tuesday, allowing four runs on three hits in a loss to the Rays.

Advice: Neris had seemed to be turning the corner early in the month, but tonight was rough. He started the inning with a lead-off double and then after a strikeout, he issued a walk and a run-scoring single. He was able to strike out Yandy Diaz to get himself one out away from sending the game to extra innings but instead served up a three-run home run to Brandon Lowe to lose the game. He has a 4.01 ERA on the season and is not a sure thing to remain the Cubs’ closer through the summer. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:24 pm
  • Takes first loss in rough outing
Neris (6-1) allowed four runs on three hits while retiring just two batters to take the loss Tuesday against the Rays. He walked one and struck out two.

Advice: Neris was tasked with protecting a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the ninth, but he allowed a double and a single to blow his third save of the year. He still had a chance to push the contest into extra innings until he served up a three-run home run to Brandon Lowe with two outs, which gave Tampa Bay the 5-2 win. It marked the first loss of the season for the veteran reliever, who saw his ERA climb from 2.63 to 4.01 in the process. This was also only the second long ball served up by Neris this year across 24.2 innings. While this effort hurts his overall stat line, Neris should have a little leeway as Chicago's closer given his solid play to this point. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:46 pm
  • CJ Abrams triples, collects RBI in Nats’ victory
CJ Abrams went 1-for-4 with an RBI on Tuesday, leading the Nationals to a 5-4 extra-inning win over the Tigers in a 10-inning marathon.

Advice: Abrams extended Washington’s early lead with a run-scoring triple in the fifth inning before coming around to score on a sacrifice fly from ensuing batter Lane Thomas. The 23-year-old speedster has been in a bit of a rut offensively over the last few weeks, hitting .203 (25-for-123) with only three homers and two steals over his last 30 games. • Making third rehab start
Silseth (elbow) will make a rehab start with Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday and is expected to pitch about five innings, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Registerreports.

Advice: The right-hander threw 56 pitches over four frames in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League during his second rehab outing last week, and he'll move to the upper minors for his third start. Jose Suarez is making a spot start Tuesday for the Angels, but Silseth could step into that spot in the rotation Sunday in San Francisco with a strong showing with Salt Lake. • Chase Silseth to make rehab start Tuesday at AAA
Chase Silseth (elbow) will make a minor league rehab start on Tuesday for Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: Silseth has made a couple rehab starts at this point for the Angels’ Rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate and will face some higher level minor-league competition before return to Los Angeles’ starting rotation mix in a few weeks. The 24-year-old righty has been out since early April recovering from elbow inflammation. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:32 pm

  • Nico Hoerner available off bench on Tuesday vs. Rays
Nico Hoerner (hand) remains absent from the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Rays.

Advice: Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters Hoerner is available off the bench after getting through an extensive hitting session on Tuesday afternoon. There’s some optimism the 27-year-old second baseman will be able to play through the issue, and should return to the lineup soon, but he remains on the bench to open a three-game set down in Tampa Bay. • On bench again Tuesday
Hoerner (hand) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Rays.

Advice: Hoerner is dealing with a small fracture in his right hand and will miss a fourth straight start. According to Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times, the 27-year-old partook in a hitting session Tuesday and will be available off the bench, and he could be back in the lineup for Wednesday's contest. Michael Busch is getting a second straight start at second base Tuesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:02 pm
