• Yankees officially add Anthony Misiewicz to bullpen
Yankees selected the contract of LHP Anthony Misiewicz from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Advice: Misiewicz augments New York’s relief depth entering Tuesday’s showdown against the Orioles and will be making his season debut when he gets into a game. The 29-year-old lefty made three relief appearances last year for the Yankees and also spent time with the Tigers and Diamondbacks as well. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:29 pm
  • Receiving promotion
The Yankees selected Misiewicz's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Misiewicz, 29, holds a 3.23 ERA and 37:10 K:BB over 30.2 innings this season with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He will provide the Yankees with another left-hander in the bullpen. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:59 am
  • Report: Yankees adding LHP Misiewicz to bullpen
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Yankees will select the contract of LHP Anthony Misiewicz before Tuesday’s game against the Orioles.

Advice: Misiewicz will give the Yankees another lefty in the bullpen for their three-game set against a Baltimore team loaded with talented hitters who can hit from the left side. The southpaw has registered a 3.23 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 30.2 innings and 23 appearances while with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:58 am
  • Racks up three hits from atop order
Ohtani went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs, an RBI, a stolen base and a walk Monday in a 9-5 victory versus the Rockies.

Advice: With Mookie Betts (hand) set to miss several weeks, Ohtani could see most of his work out of the leadoff spot -- he's now slotted in there for both games that Betts has missed so far this season. Ohtani certainly possesses qualities of a leadoff man with a .314 average, .388 OBP and 16 thefts on the campaign, though his power far exceeds what is usually expected from a batter in that role. Ohtani could lose some RBI opportunities with Betts not hitting ahead of him for the foreseeable future, but the Japanese superstar is more than capable of knocking himself in and should continue to get opportunities to score with Will Smith and Freddie Freeman batting behind him. • Moves into leadoff spot sans Betts
Ohtani will start at designated hitter and bat leadoff in Monday's game in Colorado.

Advice: In the Dodgers' first game without Mookie Betts (hand), Ohtani slides up one spot in the order and will be followed by Will Smith, who moves from cleanup to the two hole. Ohtani also hit leadoff once back on May 18 when Betts had a day off. It's the only two times this season that he hasn't hit second. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:15 pm

  • Gerrit Cole officially starting on Wednesday
According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Gerrit Cole will make his season debut on Wednesday against the Orioles

Advice: It always seemed likely that the Yankees would bring Cole back to face the Orioles, and we now know that will be the case. Cole has looked good during his rehab starts and was up to 70 pitches in his last outing, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him go at least 80 pitches on Wednesday night if the results allow. This also means the end of Cody Poteet in the Yankees’ rotation for now. Rotoworld Monday, 12:25 pm

  • Set for season debut Wednesday
Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed Monday that Cole (elbow) will be activated from the 60-day injured list to make his season debut Wednesday against the Orioles, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Cole has been lights-out on his rehab assignment, yielding one earned run with a 19:0 K:BB over 12.1 innings covering three starts. In his final rehab outing this past Friday with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Cole struck out 10 while allowing just one unearned run across 4.1 frames. The right-hander has been out all season after being diagnosed in mid-March with nerve irritation and edema in his right elbow. Cole's workload will likely be curtailed initially after he had a high of 68 pitches on his rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:23 pm

  • Clobbers pair of homers
Ohtani went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs during Sunday's 3-0 win over the Royals.

Advice: Ohtani teed off on Brady Singer, tagging the Royals' starter for solo homers in the third and sixth innings for Ohtani's second multi-homer game of 2024. The 29-year-old is now up to 19 home runs on the season, tied for fourth-most in MLB. Ohtani owns a .976 OPS through 278 plate appearances and is the only player in baseball with at least 15 homers and stolen bases. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:33 pm

  • Sticking around in rotation
Povich is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Yankees in New York, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Advice: After being roughed up for six earned runs in 5.1 innings in his MLB debut June 6 in Toronto, Povich rebounded nicely in his second start this past Wednesday, when he struck out six Atlanta batters over six scoreless frames. Povich will be rewarded with a third turn through the rotation for his efforts, but he may need another strong showing Wednesday to stick around with the big club. Dean Kremer (triceps) will likely make another rehab start this week before returning from the 15-day injured list thereafter, and Povich could be the odd man out of the rotation when that happens.
