    • Punches out five in loss
Anderson (2-4) took the loss Monday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks over 6.1 innings against Pittsburgh. He struck out five.

Advice: Anderson allowed all four runs Monday night on one swing -- a 424-foot grand slam by Edward Olivares in the third inning. Although the Angels southpaw sports a 2.74 ERA in 42.2 innings, tougher times may lie ahead, as he has been aided greatly by a .205 BABIP. Anderson is slated to make his next start against the Royals at home. Rotowire.com Today, 7:08 pm

    • Tyler Anderson picks up fourth loss against Pirates
Tyler Anderson allowed four earned runs in 6 1/3 innings in a loss against the Pirates on Monday.

Advice: Anderson has recorded a loss in four of his past five starts after picking up back-to-back wins in his first two starts of the season. His ERA has ballooned from 1.78 to 2.74 over his last two starts as the 34-year-old has given up 3 or more earned runs in those contests. After a hot start to the season, it appears regression has hit Anderson, which was to be expected. Rotoworld Today, 6:02 pm

    • Blake Snell (adductor) to throw to hitters Tuesday
Blake Snell (adductor) will face live hitters for three innings Tuesday.

Advice: Snell came away from his bullpen session over the weekend well, and will now progress to facing hitters in as simulated setting. The southpaw could begin a rehab assignment a few days later if that assignment goes the way it’s supposed to. Snell could be back with the Giants by the end of the month. • Gets positive news from specialist
Manager Bruce Bochy stated Monday that Eovaldi isn't dealing with a sports hernia and should be cleared to return after serving the 15-day minimum on the injured list, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: The Rangers initially believed that Eovaldi wouldn't be forced to miss more than the required 15 days, and this report was confirmed after the right-hander visited a specialist Monday. The 34-year-old will tentatively be cleared to return sometime during his club's upcoming series against the Angels, which runs from May 17 through May 19. Rotowire.com Today, 5:27 pm

    • Eovaldi (groin) gets ‘good news’ from specialist
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters that Nathan Eovaldi (groin) received “good news” during his visit with a specialist.

Advice: In particular, Eovaldi does not have a sports hernia. The right-hander was placed on the injured list Friday with a right groin strain, and he visited with the specialist Monday in New York. Bochy believes Eovaldi could be off the injured list right-around when he’s eligible, and that would put him back in the rotation for Texas around May 18. Rotoworld Today, 5:06 pm

    • Justin Lawrence activated off paternity list
Rockies activated RHP Justin Lawrence off the paternity list.

Advice: Lawrence was away from the team for three days. He’ll likely return to the closing role with Angel Chivilli heading back to Double-A Hartford with Lawrence back. Rotoworld Today, 1:50 pm
    • Set for live BP Tuesday
Giants manager Bob Melvin said Monday that Snell (thigh) will throw a three-inning live batting practice session Tuesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Snell was cleared to face hitters after a bullpen session Saturday went off without a hitch. The Giants will wait to see how the lefty responds to Tuesday's session before determining the next steps, but Snell is trending in a positive direction. Snell hasn't pitched in more than two weeks because of a Grade 2 left adductor strain. Rotowire.com Today, 11:38 am

    • Back from paternity leave
The Rockies activated Lawrence (personal) from the paternity list Monday.

Advice: Lawrence missed the Rockies' weekend series in Pittsburgh but will be back for the start of their series against the Giants, which begins Tuesday. He holds a 6.00 ERA this season but leads the club with two saves and should regain his spot atop the bullpen hierarchy. Rotowire.com Today, 10:33 am
    • No rehab assignment needed
Eovaldi (groin) isn't expected to require a rehab assignment prior to being activated from the 15-day injured list, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Rangers manager Bruce Bochy expressed optimism that Eovaldi, who was placed on the injured list Friday, will return when first eligible May 18. Jack Leiter is expected to be called up from Triple-A Round Rock to and fill the gap in the rotation until Eovaldi and/or Max Scherzer (back/thumb) are ready to return from the IL.
