    Jake Cronenworth went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI against the Marlins on Monday.

    Advice: Cronenworth’s bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning was the difference in the Padres’ 2-1 victory over the Marlins. He continues to play second base after the Padres’ trade for Luis Arraez. Cronenworth’s average is up to .271 and his OPS is up to .806, both of which would be career-highs.     Tyler Freeman went 3-for-5 and doubled twice as the Guardians’ leadoff man Monday against the Rockies.

    Advice: Freeman won’t be spending much time in the leadoff spot after Steven Kwan comes off the IL, but he looks like a lineup fixture right now.   • Slugs sixth homer
    Schneider went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Monday's 5-1 win over the White Sox.

    Advice: Monday's home run was Schneider's first since May 18. Over that span, the 25-year-old has batted just .194 with seven RBI and five runs scored. Even so, Schneider has batted leadoff in eight of the last nine games for the Blue Jays and should continue to see everyday at bats.     The Mariners recalled Haggerty (Achilles) from Triple-A Tacoma and placed him on the 60-day injured list Monday.

    Advice: Haggerty tore his right Achilles on May 18 in just his second minor-league game since being optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on May 15.   • Lands on IL with hamstring strain
    The Mariners placed Polanco on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a right hamstring strain.

    Advice: Polanco was replaced by Josh Rojas in the sixth inning of Sunday's 9-5 win over the Nationals, with the former going 1-for-2 with an RBI before exiting. Polanco missed seven games earlier in May due to a right hamstring issue, and the 30-year-old will spend time on the injured list this time around. General manager Justin Hollander said Monday that while Polanco has not yet undergone an MRI, he is not expected to be sidelined long, per Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM. The Mariners selected Ryan Bliss from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move, and he will start at second base Monday and bat eighth against Astros southpaw Framber Valdez.     Mariners placed INF Jorge Polanco on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring.

    Advice: Polanco aggravated the hamstring Sunday in his fifth appearance back after an eight-day absence due to the same injury. He’s hitting just .195/.293/.302 this season, so the break might be best for everyone. The Mariners will use Dylan Moore and Ryan Bliss at second base for now.     Davis Schneider slugged a two-run homer on Monday in the Blue Jays’ win over the White Sox.

    Advice: Schneider supplied a pair of insurance runs for Toronto with a ninth-inning blast off veteran reliever John Brebbia. It was his fifth round-tripper of the season and first time he’s left the yard since back on May 17.
