    • Tyler Alexander will be bulk reliever on Friday
Tyler Alexander will serve as a bulk reliever on Friday against the Royals.

Advice: Shawn Armstrong will start the game but then Alexander will take over for bulk work. It’s not a bad change for Alexander since coming in as the bulk reliever doesn’t require him to pitch five innings in order to qualify for the win. It’s a role we saw Ryan Yarbrough thrive in with the Rays in the past and makes Alexander an intriguing streamer in deeper formats. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago
    • Giancarlo Stanton scorches homer in win over Mariners
Giancarlo Stanton swatted a solo homer and drew a walk in a win over the Mariners on Thursday.

Advice: Stanton absolutely blistered a Luis Castillo offering into Monument Park to give New York a 1-0 lead. The 6-foot-6 power bat has gone deep 12 times in 2024, and he’s up to 27 RBI with the roundtripper. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

    • Aaron Judge hits 15th homer in win over Mariners
Aaron Judge hit a solo homer in a 5-0 win over the Mariners on Thursday.

Advice: Judge also walked twice and scored after one of those free passes. The slugger slaughtered a Luis Castillo offering for his 15th homer of the season and it gave New York a 2-0 lead. Remember when Judge was scuffling? We don’t either. He remains as reliable a power threat as there is in the sport. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

    • Luis Gil holds M’s to one hit, strikes out eight
Luis Gil held Seattle to one hit with eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 shutout innings Thursday while picking up a win.

Advice: Another masterful outing for Gil, one that might quiet the “move to the bullpen” talk when Gerrit Cole returns to the rotation. Gil did walk two, but he was mostly dominant with the only hit being a J.P. Crawford single in the fourth. Gil has struck out 22 batters over his last two starts in 12 1/3 innings, and his ERA is a sparkling 2.11. A chance to impress again is scheduled for Wednesday against the Angels in Los Angeles. • Luis Castillo allows two over five in defeat
Luis Castillo went five innings while surrendering two runs in a loss to the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: Castillo allowed seven hits with three walks, and he struck out three. There was significant traffic throughout the outing, but the right-hander’s only runs allowed came on solo homers by Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. This makes back-to-back starts where Castillo hasn’t had his best stuff, but he was able to battle to hold powerful lineups in the Yankees and Orioles in check. He’s scheduled to face Houston on Tuesday. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

    • Tigers call up Mason Englert
Tigers recalled RHP Mason Englert from Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Englert will take Alex Lange’s spot in the bullpen. The 24-year-old has been solid in Triple-A with a 2.35 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 23 innings while striking out 34 and walking nine. He has not yet been able to carry that success over to the major-league level but perhaps now is the time. Rotoworld Today, 12:01 pm
    • Tigers option reliever Alex Lange to minors
Tigers optioned RHP Alex Lange to Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Lange was publicly chewed out by his manager A.J. Hinch on the mound during Wednesday’s game and despite Hinch claiming that had nothing to do with the demotion, we find that hard to believe. Going into Wednesday’s game, Lange had allowed just four earned runs in his previous 14 appearances. His command will certainly come and go, and it had been poor in the last three appearances, but the 28-year-old only has two bad outings all season. This feels like a situation that is heading for a break-up and if Lange is able to find his way onto a team that can improve his command, he still has a future as a solid reliever. • Optioned to Triple-A
The Tigers optioned Lange to Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.

Advice: A day after allowing four earned runs in one inning during Wednesday's loss to the Royals, Lange will be sent to Triple-A in order to get back on track. The 28-year-old owns a 4.34 ERA and 1.77 WHIP alongside a 21:17 K:BB through 18.2 innings this season, and he figures to return to Detroit's bullpen once he starts turning in promising results with Toledo. In the meantime, Mason Englert will come up from Triple-A to take Lange's place. Rotowire.com Today, 11:57 am

    • Recalled from Triple-A
The Tigers recalled Englert from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Englert has put up a 2.35 ERA and 34:9 K:BB over 23 innings with Toledo this season. The 24-year-old collected a 5.46 ERA across 31 appearances for the Tigers last season. He should operate in low-leverage situations. Rotowire.com Today, 11:56 am
