    • Goes yard in both ends of twin bill
Vierling went 4-for-8 with two home runs, three runs scored and five RBI across both games of Wednesday's doubleheader split with the Pirates.

Advice: Getting the start in center field in the opener and at third base in the second contest, Vierling was locked in at the plate no matter where he was stationed on the diamond. The 27-year-old crushed a three-run homer off Jared Jones in the fifth inning of an 8-0 win to kick off the twin bill, then launched a solo shot off Paul Skenes in the sixth inning of a 10-2 loss later in the afternoon. Vierling has four long balls among eight hits over his last three games, boosting his slash line on the season to .289/.320/.503 with seven homers, 22 runs and 28 RBI. • Matt Vierling homers again as Tigers drop nightcap
Matt Vierling homered for the fourth time in his last three games on Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Tigers past the Pirates in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Advice: After belting a pair of home runs — including a walk-off — on Sunday, and crushing a three-run shot in the first game on Wednesday, Vierling tagged Paul Skenes for a 373-foot solo shot in the sixth inning of the nightcap. He finished the afternoon 1-for-4 and is now slashing an impressive .289/.320/.503 to go along with seven homers and 28 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:29 pm

    • Matt Vierling hits three-run homer in rout
Matt Vierling went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI against the Pirates in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Advice: Vierling has three homers and eight runs batted in in his last two games. His season OPS is up to .811, and especially now that Kerry Carpenter is on the IL, he should be a fixture against righties and lefties alike for at least the next couple of weeks. That makes him a decent play in mixed leagues, though it hurts that he’s become a zero in steals. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:15 pm

    • Could play regularly sans Carpenter
Vierling will start in center field and bat second in the first game of Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Vierling had already started five of the Tigers' previous six games at three different positions (center field, left field and third base), but he should maintain an even more stable role in the outfield for at least the next week and a half after the Tigers placed Kerry Carpenter (back) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday. The 27-year-old Vierling has been one of the Tigers' top hitters in May, slashing .290/.320/.536 with three home runs, 16 RBI and eight runs on the month heading into Wednesday's twin bill. • Jarren Duran goes 0-for-5 in loss to Orioles
Jarren Duran went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts on Monday in the Red Sox’ loss to the Orioles.

Advice: Duran has been mired in a little bit of a funk lately, batting .233 (7-for-30) with one homer and one steal over his last seven contests. It’s an extremely small sample size, but if we frame out a bit more, he’s hitting .262 (32-for-122) with just two homers and three steals over his last 30 contests. The 27-year-old has shown glimpses of immense fantasy potential as a power/speed combo threat, but it hasn’t quite come together completely this season as he sits at only three homers and 11 steals through Memorial Day. • Wilyer Abreu sits versus LHP on Monday
Wilyer Abreu will head to the bench on Monday with the Red Sox facing a left-handed pitcher.

Advice: Rob Refsnyder will start in his place and bat second. The Red Sox also chose to sit David Hamilton with Cole Irvin on the mound, and Romy Gonzalez will play shortstop. The Red Sox will only face one more left-handed starter this week, so fantasy managers with Abreu on their team should feel good about playing him in weekly lineup lock leagues. • Grabbing seat
Santander is absent from the lineup for Monday's tilt against the Red Sox.

Advice: Santander has homered twice in his last four contests, but he's also done a lot of swinging and missing of late with 10 strikeouts across his past 25 plate appearances. Kyle Stowers is getting a start in right field. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:48 am
    • Sitting out versus lefty
Abreu is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Baltimore.

Advice: The Orioles have southpaw Cole Irvin on the mound Monday, so the left-handed hitting Abreu will take a seat. Rob Refsnyder will be in right field for the Red Sox and also occupy the second spot in the batting order. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:12 am

    • Heats up
Abreu went 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Abreu, who scored on a sacrifice fly following his fourth-inning triple, is in a productive stretch. The outfielder is 10-for-25 with five extra-base hits, a stolen base, six RBI and four runs scored over the last seven contests. He's thriving against right-handed pitching this season, posting a .926 OPS against them. Rotowire.com Monday, 6:02 am
