    • Debuts with eight-inning gem
Daniel (1-0) picked up the win over the Tigers on Thursday, pitching eight scoreless innings while striking out eight.

Advice: Daniel was phenomenal in his first career start, generating 13 swings and misses while allowing only three runners to reach second base over his eight innings of work. The 27-year-old threw 21 of 26 first-pitch strikes and didn't walk a batter. Daniel has almost certainly earned himself another start with Thursday's dominant performance. • Triples, swipes bag in win
De La Cruz went 3-for-5 with an RBI triple, a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's win over St. Louis.

Advice: The star shortstop kicked things off for Cincinnati with an RBI triple in the first inning to score Jonathan India. De la Cruz would then add another two singles in the contest, giving him his fifth three-hit performance this month and third in his last six games. Over that latter stretch he's batting .464 (13-for-28) with two homers, four RBI and seven runs scored. He also swiped his league-leading 38th bag Thursday after failing to record a steal over his previous eight games. Rotowire.com Friday, 4:22 am

    • Noelvi Marte tallies three hits in season debut
Noelvi Marte tallied three hits on Thursday in his season debut against the Cardinals.

Advice: Marte showed zero signs of rust in his season debut, which is impressive considering he struggled during his recent minor league rehab assignment, after serving an 80-game suspension following a positive test for a performance-enhancing substance to open the year. The 22-year-old top prospect, who went 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored on Thursday evening, should be rostered in all fantasy formats as a potential four-category impact contributor. There aren’t a ton of questions regarding the talent and he has a clear path to everyday at-bats at the hot corner moving forward with Christian Encarnacion-Strand out for the season. • Davis Daniel fires eight scoreless in ’24 debut
David Daniel struck out eight over eight shutout innings on Thursday in a win over the Tigers.

Advice: Daniel was brilliant in his season debut, allowing just four hits over eight scoreless frames in a 5-0 victory for the Angels. His velocity was actually down from his major league outings last year — he averaged 91.7 mph and topped out at 93.0 mph with his fastball tonight — but he induced 13 missed swings and had a 35 percent CSW. We’re still not particularly optimistic here, even if his peripherals were considerably better than his 5.33 ERA in Triple-A, but it’s certainly a nice start that should serve to keep him in the rotation for now. • De La Cruz hits RBI triple, steals base in win
Elly De La Cruz went 3-for-5 with a run scored, a triple, an RBI and a stolen base against the Cardinals on Thursday.

Advice: De La Cruz’s RBI triple off Miles Mikolas in the first inning started the scoring for Cincinnati. He later stole his 38th base of the season. De La Cruz is hitting .255 with an .815 OPS and 36 RBI on the year.

    • Angels recall Davis Daniel for Thursday start
Angels recalled RHP Davis Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: Daniel will make his season debut on Thursday evening against the Tigers after posting a pedestrian 5.33 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 82/25 K/BB ratio across 76 innings (14 starts) this season for Triple-A Salt Lake. The 27-year-old righty made three relief appearances last year for Los Angeles in his first taste of the majors. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:53 pm

    • Promoted ahead of start
The Angels recalled Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake to start Thursday's game versus Detroit.

Advice: Daniel has yet to pitch in the majors this season despite joining the active roster for one day in May. He posted a 2.19 ERA and 1.30 WHIP through 12.1 innings across three games with the Halos last season, but fantasy managers should expect results closer to his Triple-A statline (5.33 ERA, 1.50 WHIP in 76 innings) as he makes his first career MLB start Thursday. Guillermo Zuniga was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Thursday, 2:43 pm

    • Reds activate prospect Noelvi Marte for ’24 debut
Reds activated INF Noelvi Marte from the restricted list.

Advice: Marte returns to Cincinnati’s lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cardinals after serving an 80-game suspension following a positive test for a performance-enhancing substance. The 22-year-old infielder will get the majority of his starts at third base for the Reds moving forward after emerging as one of the top prospects in the fantasy landscape last year before batting .316/.366/.456 with three homers and six steals over 35 contests in the majors. He struggled in a quick 12-game ramp up earlier this month with Triple-A Louisville, batting .151 (8-for-53) with just one extra-base hit, but some rust is to be expected on the heels of such a lengthy absence. It might take him a few weeks to get going, but he’s absolutely worthy of a speculative roster spot in all leagues based solely on his immense talent. Rotoworld Thursday, 1:53 pm

    • Reinstated from suspension
The Reds activated Marte from the suspended list Thursday.

Advice: Marte has completed his 80-game PED suspension and the Reds will return him to their active roster on the first day he's eligible. The 22-year-old struggled mightily while on his rehab assignment, slashing just .151/.151/.170 with no home runs and a 15:0 K:BB over 53 plate appearances. Fantasy managers might be wise to keep Marte out of their lineups for now while he knocks some rust off, but the infielder should be rostered virtually everywhere. He should operate as the Reds' primary third baseman. Rotowire.com Thursday, 1:15 pm
