    • Stymies Tigers in victory
Brown (3-5) earned the win Friday against Detroit, allowing five hits and no walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out nine.

Advice: Brown entered the game on a hot streak, firing a 2.25 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB in 24 innings over his last four starts. He kept rolling, generating 15 whiffs en route to tying his season high with nine punchouts. The right-hander has been outstanding since May 1, going 3-1 with a 2.58 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 52:15 K:BB in 45.1 innings over seven starts. Brown is slated to face the White Sox on the road in his next outing. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:04 pm

    • Kevin Gausman surrenders three runs in loss
Kevin Gausman lost to the Guardians after allowing three runs in 5 1/3 innings on Friday.

Advice: Gausman’s velocity was well down for a second straight start tonight, even though he was working with an extra day off. It’s a definite cause for concern at this point; there’d be much more reason to expect Gausman to bounce back while throwing 94 mph than there is while he’s throwing 92. If there’s reason for optimism, it’s that’s he’s occasionally dealt with fluctuating velocity in the past. Rotoworld Friday, 7:13 pm
    • Strikes out 10
Gore (6-5) earned the win Friday over the Marlins, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out 10.

Advice: Gore was excellent Friday, holding Miami to a lone second-inning run en route to his fourth win in his last five starts. It's the third double-digit strikeout outing for Gore this year as he lowered his ERA to 3.24 with a 1.32 WHIP and 91:23 K:BB through 14 starts (75 innings) this season. The left-hander is currently in line for a home matchup with the Diamondbacks in his next outing. Rotowire.com Friday, 6:42 pm

    • MacKenzie Gore strikes out 10 in seven innings
MacKenzie Gore struck out 10 Marlins across seven innings in an 8-1 win on Friday night. He allowed just one earned run and walked one batter. He earned the win.

Advice: Gore was downright dazzling in this one. He challenged the Marlins again and again with his fastball high in the zone and they swung and missed at it 12 times in 35 tries. His heater is special sitting 96 MPH from the left side with tons of ride. He’s put an emphasis on throwing it up in the zone this season and that has helped him reach new heights. This was his third start so far with double-digit punch outs and he’s allowed more than three earned runs just once. His breakout is indisputable at this point. Rotoworld Friday, 6:13 pm

    • Fans eight over six frames
Pfaadt (3-5) earned the win over the Angels on Thursday, allowing one run on six hits and three walks over six innings while striking out eight.

Advice: Pfaadt allowed the leadoff man to reach base in two of his first three innings, but escaped unscathed via double plays on each occasion. He would then surrender an RBI single to Mickey Moniak in the fourth before going on to log his seventh quality start of the campaign. The right-hander has allowed two or fewer runs in three of his last six outings, going 2-2 over that stretch. Pfaadt's also recorded at least seven strikeouts in four of his last six starts. • Brandon Pfaadt strikes out eight, allows one run
Brandon Pfaadt struck out eight while limiting the Angels to one run in six innings to get a win Thursday.

Advice: Pfaadt did have some control issues with three walks and 62-of-108 pitches landing for strikes, but he was able to work out of jams thanks to the punchouts. It’s a much improved effort from last weekend when he gave up nine hits and five runs against San Diego. Pfaadt has shown almost zero consistency in his MLB career — at least not in a positive way — but the stuff is here for him to be a successful fantasy option. His next chance for quality results comes next week against the Nats. Rotoworld Thursday, 10:14 pm

    • Allows one run in quality start
Mize did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over six innings against the Nationals. He struck out four.

Advice: Mize's only run allowed came on a sacrifice fly in the fourth, as he otherwise stymied the Nationals. It was the fifth quality start this season for Mize, and his first since May 15. Over his four starts since, he had compiled an 8.22 ERA and 2.48 ERA over 15.1 innings entering Thursday's contest. His next start is currently slated to take place next week when the Tigers travel to Atlanta for a three-game set. Rotowire.com Thursday, 3:02 pm

    • Reynaldo López shuts out Orioles for six in win
Reynaldo López shut out the Orioles for six innings, striking out eight, in the Braves’ 6-3 win Thursday.

Advice: López left with a four-run lead, which was fortunate since Pierce Johnson gave up a three-run homer in the seventh. It’s just the fourth victory for López, even though he’s allowed three runs or fewer in all 12 of his starts. If he had done this for the 2023 Braves, he’d probably have at least twice as many wins right now. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:01 pm

    • Casey Mize gets first quality start in a month
Casey Mize surrendered one run over six innings Thursday in a no-decision against the Nationals.

Advice: It’s Mize’s first quality start since May 15, though it wasn’t enough for his first win since Apr. 21. The Tigers did prevail by scoring six runs after Mize exited. They are actually 8-5 when Mize starts this year, but the right-hander is nonetheless sporting a 1-4 record with a 4.43 ERA. Rotoworld Thursday, 1:28 pm
