  • Kevin Gausman unsteady in loss to Red Sox
    Kevin Gausman allowed five runs - four earned - in 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday against the Red Sox. He struck out four and walked three en route to a loss.

    Advice: Gausman never looked comfortable in this one. He allowed his first run in the midst of a two-error inning and then labored until being pulled in the sixth inning. He threw far too many fastballs in the heart of the zone and couldn’t get the Red Sox to bite at his splitters.   • Solid effort ends in no-decision
    Gray allowed two runs on five hits and two walks over 7.2 innings in Monday's 7-6 win versus the Marlins. He struck out four and didn't factor in the decision.

    Advice: Gray pitched into the eighth inning for the first time this season and left the game up 4-1, but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead. The four strikeouts were a season low for Gray as he worked fast and efficiently, needing only 84 pitches to record 23 outs. The veteran's ERA now sits at 2.95 with a 1.02 WHIP through 13 starts.   • Tagged with five runs
    Kikuchi (4-6) allowed five runs on seven hits over four innings Monday, striking out seven and taking a loss against Boston.

    Advice: Kikuchi was cursed by the long ball Monday, coughing up four solo shots in the first three innings. Tyler O'Neill accounted for two of them, including in the first inning when he went back-to-back with Rafael Devers. Kikuchi had allowed just four home runs over his previous six starts entering Monday and had not given up multiple long balls in any start this season. He's registered a 6.17 ERA over his last five starts, bumping his season ERA to 3.65 through 81.1 frames. Kikuchi's next start is projected to be in Cleveland. Rotowire.com Jun 17, 7:43 pm
     
  • Sonny Gray goes 7 2/3 in no-decision vs. Marlins
    Sonny Gray allowed two runs over 7 2/3 innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Marlins.

    Advice: Gray was long gone before this one was decided in a 12-inning marathon, but he managed to complete seven frames for the second consecutive start. He struck out four and only issued two walks. The 34-year-old righty has been excellent this season in his St. Louis debut, allowing three earned runs or fewer in 10 of his 13 starts so far.   • Kikuchi allows five in loss to Red Sox Monday
    Yusei Kikuchi allowed five runs in four innings and took the loss against the Red Sox on Monday.



    Advice: Kikuchi gave up seven hits, walked none and struck out seven. He had won his last two starts. Kikuchi was hit hard in this one as he allowed four home runs to the Red Sox. He’s now allowed 11 home runs on the season (1.22 HR/9). It was the second time in four June starts that Kikuchi allowed five runs. The 33-year-old left-hander is set to face the Guardians on the road this weekend.

  • Dealing with rotator cuff strain
    Yamamoto was diagnosed with a right rotator cuff strain Sunday following an MRI, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

    Advice: Yamamoto was lifted after two innings in his start during Saturday's win over the Royals with what the Dodgers had termed as right tricep tightness. As expected, Yamamoto was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday, but the Dodgers didn't provide an updated diagnosis on his injury until after the results of his MRI were read. Manager Dave Roberts said that while the injury is not "season ending," Yamamoto Is "not going to throw for a couple of weeks, then we'll see where we go from there." Fortunately for the Dodgers, they'll be getting some reinforcement to their rotation in the form of right-hander Bobby Miller (shoulder), who is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list during the upcoming week. After he was roughed up for five runs over one inning in his MLB debut March 21 against the Padres in Seoul, South Korea, Yamamoto had been as good as advertised over his subsequent 13 starts, ringing up a 6-1 record, 2.34 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 82:16 K:BB over 73 innings.   • IL bound with arm injury
    The Dodgers placed Yamamoto (triceps) on the 15-day injured list Sunday.

    Advice: Yamamoto struck out a batter over two scoreless innings before he was lifted from his start in Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Royals after he had experienced tightness in his right tricep while warming up prior to the game. Manager Dave Roberts hinted after the game that Yamamoto was likely to land on the IL, and the Dodgers have made the move official prior to Sunday's series finale. According to David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports, Roberts suggested that Yamamoto will be sent in for further testing Sunday before an official diagnosis for the injury and a timeline for his return is provided.
