• Out of All-Star Game with thumb injury
Arraez will attend All-Star festivities in Texas but won't play for the National League in Tuesday's game due to a jammed left thumb, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Arraez first hurt the thumb while sliding into third base June 25. He has played in all but two of San Diego's games since then, most recently sitting out Sunday's 6-3 loss to Atlanta. While Arraez has mostly been able to remain in the lineup despite the injury, he admitted that the thumb hurts "a lot" when he swings and catches the ball. The issue probably won't be anything that causes him to miss much, if any, additional time in games that count, but he'll use the All-Star break to rest the jammed thumb rather than risking further injury in the exhibition contest. • On base three times
Albies went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Advice: Albies began his day with a double and later led off the fourth with a single before stealing second and coming around to score on a base hit from Matt Olson. Albies has notched a double in three straight games and now has four multi-hit efforts in July. The 27-year-old switch hitter heads into the break slashing .258/.312/.410 with eight homers, 44 RBI, 47 runs, eight steals and a 24:59 BB:K in 381 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:40 am

  • Drives in five Sunday
Rooker went 2-for-2 with a pair of two-run home runs, an RBI sacrifice fly and a walk in an 18-3 win over the Phillies on Sunday.

Advice: Rooker ignited the Athletics' eight-homer barrage on the afternoon with the first of his two massive round trippers, slugging a 450-foot shot to center with JJ Bleday aboard in the fourth inning to erase a 1-0 deficit. He'd one-up himself just two frames later, clearing the center-field wall at a distance of 452 feet to plate Bleday once again. The All-Star snub has been one of baseball's most fearsome hitters since the calendar flipped to July, hitting .488 (20-for-41) with three doubles, six home runs, 15 RBI, seven walks, three stolen bases and 15 runs. • Blake Snell takes no-no into seventh against Twins
Blake Snell allowed one hit over seven scoreless innings and struck out eight against the Twins on Sunday.

Advice: Snell allowed just one hard-hit ball, which turned into an out. The lone hit against him was a clean single from Manuel Margot on a 97-mph fastball in the on the hands in the seventh. Snell walked none and was at just 80 pitches through seven, but since he’s coming back from injury, the Giants weren’t going to push it. He’s allowed two hits over 12 scoreless innings since coming off the IL, lowering his ERA from 9.51 to 6.31. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:21 pm

  • Fantastic against Twins
Snell allowed one hit and struck out eight without walking a batter over seven scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Sunday.

Advice: Snell carried a perfect game into the seventh inning, and he faced the minimum in his start by erasing the one hit he gave up with a double play. The left-hander was denied the win after Camilo Doval blew a save opportunity, but the Giants bounced back for the team victory. Snell has allowed two hits and three walks over 12 innings since returning from a groin injury, finally showing his skills after an injury-riddled start to 2024. He has a 6.31 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 42:17 K:BB through 35.2 innings over eight starts, but he should be considered a buy-low target in fantasy. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:44 pm

  • Luis Arraez (thumb) won’t play in All-Star Game
Luis Arraez (thumb) will not participate in the All-Star Game next week.

Advice: The 27-year-old second baseman said that it was a tough decision to opt out, but that he felt his jammed left thumb needed the rest. Expect the National League to name a replacement to the squad in the upcoming days. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:20 pm

  • Ozzie Albies reaches base three times in victory
Ozzie Albies went 2-for-3 with a double, walk and a run scored on Sunday as the Braves triumphed over the Padres to wrap up the first half of the season.

Advice: Albies smacked a one-out double off of Randy Vasquez in the opening inning but wound up getting stranded at third base. He then led off the fourth inning with a single, swiped second base and raced around to score the Braves’ first run on an RBI single off the bat of Matt Olson. The 27-year-old second baseman finishes the first half hitting .258/.312/.410 with eight homers, 44 RBI and eight stolen bases (in nine attempts). Rotoworld Sunday, 3:50 pm

  • Rooker homers twice in win for A’s
Brent Rooker went 2-for-2 with a walk, two home runs, and five RBI for the A’s on Sunday.

Advice: Rooker is now up to 21 home runs on the season while hitting .291/.369/.573 in what has been a dynamic first half of the season. He does have a strikeout rate that hovers around 33 percent, and that swing-and-miss will always lead to some cold stretches, but he has produced more often than not this season and deserves to be on most fantasy rosters while he’s running this hot. • Resting Sunday
Carroll is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: After starting each of the last four games, the lefty-hitting Carroll will get a breather as the Diamondbacks close out their pre-All-Star-break schedule with a matchup against a southpaw (Yusei Kikuchi). Carroll has endured a disappointing first half in which he's slashed just .213/.300/.335, but he turned in two big games in his starts against Toronto earlier in the weekend, going 3-for-8 with two home runs, two walks, two stolen bases, seven RBI and four runs between those contests. Fantasy managers will maintain hope that Saturday's two-home-run performance in particular portends a big second half for the 23-year-old outfielder. Rotowire.com Sunday, 1:14 pm
