  • Aaron Nola starts triple play, tames Tigers in win
    Aaron Nola yielded one run over seven innings on Monday in a win over the Tigers.

    Advice: Nola did what he’s done best throughout his career in this one, cruising into the late innings after being staked to a massive lead before even taking the mound at pitcher-friendly Comerica Park. He struck out six batters and didn’t hand out a free pass. A run-scoring single from Carson Kelly in the fifth inning represented the lone tally against him over seven strong frames. He also started an ultra-rare 1-3-5 triple play in the third inning of this one, which was the first in the big leagues since 1929 and only third of its kind in big-league history. The 31-year-old upper-echelon fantasy contributor is prone to the occasional blow-up, but he’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in 13 of his 16 outings this season.   • Sharp in win
    Nola (9-3) picked up the win Monday against Detroit, allowing one earned run on six hits and zero walks while striking out six over seven innings.

    Advice: Nola allowed just one extra-base hit, limiting the Tigers to just one run to notch his sixth quality start over his past seven outings. Despite getting shelled by the Red Sox for eight earned runs on June 13, the 31-year-old owns a robust 3.54 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP and a 84:25 K:BB over 94 innings.   • Perfect for 26th save
    Helsley picked up the save Sunday against San Francisco, striking out two batters during a perfect ninth inning.

    Advice: Helsley has two more saves than any other closer and is now 26-for-27 on save chances this season. While he's been able to dodge blown saves, Helsley has had to work through plenty of trouble lately, allowing multiple baserunners in seven of his last 12 appearances.     Ryan Helsley threw a shutout ninth inning to preserve a 5-3 win over the Giants on Sunday.

    Advice: The right-hander didn’t allow a hit while striking out two batters. The effort gave Helsley his league-leading 26th save to go along with a solid 2.81 ERA. He has been one of the best draft day values among relievers. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:20 pm
     
  • Tosses first career complete game
    Ober (7-4) earned the win over Oakland on Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out 10 batters over nine innings.

    Advice: Ober was extremely efficient in the impressive outing, needing just 89 pitches to polish off the first complete game of his career. The right-hander threw 70 of those pitches for strikes and racked up a career-best 23 whiffs. Ober did give up a pair of solo homers -- just the third time through 15 starts that he's allowed multiple home runs -- but those didn't hurt much with Minnesota's offense putting up 10 runs.   • Bailey Ober hurls complete game with 10 strikeouts
    Bailey Ober threw all nine innings while allowing just two runs with 10 strikeouts in a 10-2 rout for the Twins over the Athletics on Saturday.

    Advice: Ober gave up a pair of solo homers, and outside of those roundtrippers the 28-year-old was brilliant. He didn’t walk anyone, and even with 10 strikeouts, the right-hander needed only 89 pitches for the complete game. The A’s offense is ever-so-beatable, but credit Ober for another fantastic pitching performance against Oakland. He’s lined up to face the Mariners in Seattle on Friday.     Helsley picked up the save over the Giants on Thursday, allowing one hit and one walk over one inning while striking out two.

    Advice: Helsley took over in the ninth to protect a one-run lead and proceeded to walk the leadoff man while also coughing up a single three batters later. However, the right-hander rebounded nicely, striking out Matt Chapman to stop the late rally and earn his league-leading 25th save of the season.   • Ryan Helsley secures MLB-leading 25th save
    Ryan Helsley fired a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday against the Giants to record his major league-leading 25th save of the season.

    Advice: Helsley was summoned to protect a narrow one-run lead at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama and made things interesting by issuing a leadoff walk to Trenton Brooks and surrendering a two-out single to Patrick Bailey, which put the potential tying run in scoring position. He managed to wriggle out of the jam by striking out Matt Chapman to extinguish the threat. The hard-throwing 29-year-old righty has converted 25 of 26 save chances this season to go along with a sparkling 2.45 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 38/13 K/BB ratio across 33 innings (33 appearances).
