• Jeimer Candelario homers twice to lead Reds
Jeimer Candelario launched a pair of solo homers in leading the Reds to a 5-2 win over the Red Sox on Friday.

Advice: Remember when Candelario was having a bad season? He’s hit eight homers, knocked in 17 runs and even stolen three bases this month to push his season line up to .255/.310/.506. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

  • Ohtani gets Tungsten O’Doyle’d against former team
Shohei Ohtani homered and reached four times in a 3-2 loss to the Angels on Friday in 10 innings.

Advice: We’re used to seeing those type of efforts from Ohtani being wasted, but usually it was for the Angels, not against them. The 29-year-old absolutely destroyed a solo blast off Matt Moore in the fifth for his 22nd homer of the year and 55th RBI of the season. The only blemish was a caught stealing for Ohtani, but that was just the second of the season. Rotoworld Today, 9:56 pm

  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homers in loss
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-4 with a solo home run on Friday in a loss to the Guardians

Advice: This Blue Jays offense is a disaster. Guerrero’s solo shot was their only glimmer of offense before they loaded the bases in the ninth inning. The home run was Guerrero’s eighth, a very disappointing number as we near the midway point of the season. Rotoworld Today, 6:50 pm
  • Dodgers transfer Max Muncy to 60-day IL
Dodgers transferred INF Max Muncy to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The 33-year-old slugger has been shelved since May 17 due to a right oblique strain. There’s still no clear timetable for when he may be able to rejoin the Dodgers, though he now won’t be eligible to return until July 16 at the earliest. Muncy did take ground balls prior to Friday’s game, but he has a long way to go to build back up before he’s ready to be activated. Rotoworld Today, 6:02 pm

  • Transferred to 60-day IL
The Dodgers Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times Muncy (oblique) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Jack Harris reports.

Advice: Muncy was placed on the 10-day IL on May 17 due to a Grade 1 right oblique strain. It took him nearly a month to begin taking dry swings and he has been limited to fielding grounders and running the bases. With more steps needed before beginning a rehab assignment, the Dodgers opted to move Muncy to the 60-day IL on Friday, meaning he won't be eligible to return until after the All-Star break. In a corresponding move, the Dodgers activated Kyle Hurt (shoulder) from the 60-day IL and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, per Harris. Rotowire.com Today, 5:55 pm

  • Homers, reaches three times in win
Alvarez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks in Friday's 11-1 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Alvarez opened the second inning with a 420-foot solo home run off Shota Imanaga then walked in the fourth and ninth frames. The homer was Alvarez's first since returning from a thumb injury June 11, and he has eight hits and five RBI during a modest four-game hitting streak. On the season, Alvarez is slashing .271/.319/.400 with two home runs and 15 RBI in 91 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 3:17 pm
  • Jeimer Candelario (tendinitis) returns to lineup
Jeimer Candelario (tendinitis) returned to the Reds’ starting lineup on Friday night.

Advice: Candelario was pulled from Tuesday’s game due to general fatigue and tendinitis and then sat out Wednesday’s game as a precautionary measure. He’s feeling much improved after a couple of days off though and is back in there as the Reds’ designated hitter on Friday night. He’ll bat third against Kutter Crawford and the Red Sox. • TJ Friedl (hamstring) returns to action on Friday
TJ Friedl (hamstring) returned to the Reds’ starting lineup for Friday night’s series opener against the Red Sox.

Advice: Friedl had missed each of the team’s last two games due to tightness in his hamstring. The 28-year-old outfielder has struggled to stay on the field this season, managing to hit .214/.320/.381 with four homers, 15 RBI and six stolen bases in just 23 games in-between stints on the injured list. He’s starting in left field and batting leadoff for the Reds on Friday night against Kutter Crawford and the Red Sox. Rotoworld Today, 1:17 pm

  • Back in lineup
Candelario is batting third and the designated hitter for Friday's game against Boston.

Advice: Candelario had been battling unspecified tendinitis the past few days and missed the Reds' most recent game. However, he'll be back in action Friday, claiming DH duties. Rotowire.com Today, 12:24 pm
