• Maikel Garcia leads off, shifts to second base
Maikel Garcia is back in the leadoff spot and playing second base for the Royals on Monday.

Advice: It’s the first time Garcia has played anywhere other third this year, but the Royals just called up a third baseman in CJ Alexander and have Michael Massey apparently limited to DH at the moment. As a result, Garcia will get to show his versatility. The return to the leadoff spot is also good news; he had led off throughout the season before being dropped to seventh on Saturday and eighth on Sunday. Considering that he has a .291 OBP, there’s no blaming the Royals for making the switch. Still, he remains a better bet than the alternative options to bat ahead of Bobby Witt Jr. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:07 pm

  • Loses hold of leadoff gig
Garcia went 1-for-3 with a base hit in Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Garcia had made each of his first 74 starts of the season as the Royals' leadoff hitter, but he was dropped down to seventh and eighth in the batting order over the final two games of the weekend in Texas. His slide down the lineup comes while he's mustered a .152/.221/.177 slash line over 20 games thus far in June. The Royals haven't yet settled on a replacement for Garcia atop the lineup, as both Adam Frazier (thumb) and Nick Loftin received turns in the leadoff spot to close out the weekend. • Not starting Saturday
Paredes is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Paredes will get a rest Saturday after going 1-for-5 with two strikeouts in Friday's 10-3 win over Pittsburgh. Amed Rosario will start at third base and bat fifth against Pirates right-hander Jared Jones. Rotowire.com Saturday, 12:51 pm

  • Racks up four hits in win
Machado went 4-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 9-5 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Machado has multiple hits in four of his last five games, going 10-for-21 in that span. The third baseman was batting just .240 at the start of June, but he's pushed that up to .263 with a .704 OPS, seven home runs, five stolen bases, 37 RBI and 32 runs scored across 72 contests this season. While his power production has been a career low so far, the 31-year-old could still put together a surge over the second half of the campaign. Rotowire.com Friday, 11:30 pm

  • Manny Machado collects four hits against Brewers
Manny Machado went 4-for-5 with an RBI in a victory Friday over the Brewers.

Advice: Machado and Jake Cronenworth were the offensive stars for the Padres on Friday; combining to go 9-for-10 in the four-run win. He singled three times and scored two runs while improving his slash to a still-disappointing .263/.318/.387 in 72 games and 204 at-bats. Rotoworld Friday, 10:00 pm

  • Slugs seventh homer
Machado went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in Thursday's win over Milwaukee.

Advice: Machado jumped on a four-seamer from Bryse Wilson with two outs in the bottom of the first inning and sent it into the stands in right field to put San Diego up 3-1. The third baseman would also add a single, giving him his third multi-hit performance in his last four games. Machado is now up to seven homers on the season, though Thursday's long ball was only his second since May 3. Rotowire.com Friday, 7:50 am

  • Maikel Garcia gets a day off on Thursday
Maikel Garcia is not in the Royals’ lineup for Thursday’s game against the Athletics.

Advice: The 24-year-old is hitting just .145 in 16 games in June with 12 strikeouts. He does have four steals and 10 runs scored and is coming off a month of May where he hit .305, so this might be nothing but a brief cold stretch. The Royals will hope a day off helps him get back on track. In the meantime, Garrett Hampson will start at second base and hit eighth with Nick Loftin moving over to third base. • Swats solo shot in victory
Paredes went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning win against Minnesota.

Advice: Paredes supplied the only run off Twins starter Joe Ryan with his third-inning solo shot to left field. The long ball was his first of June and just his second over his past 25 contests. Paredes has slowed down in the power department after a fast start to the season, but he's still the Rays' leader with 11 home runs overall. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:08 pm

  • Isaac Paredes leaves the yard in victory over Twins
Isaac Paredes slugged his 11th home run of the season on Wednesday night, helping to power the Twins past the Rays in extra innings.

Advice: Paredes opened the scoring in the contest with a 359-foot (95.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Joe Ryan that was pulled down the left field line. The 25-year-old slugger also singled and walked in the contest, finishing the night 2-for-3. On the season, he’s slashing a healthy .286/.368/.475 with the aforementioned 11 long balls and 39 RBI.
