      Advice: Marte got it started early with a two-run home run in the first inning. He later plated a run on a sacrifice fly. While he's had a good season to date -- one that's generating All-Star buzz from Arizona Sports -- Marte can be even more productive if Corbin Carroll's bat stays hot ahead of him in the lineup. Carroll's batting .340 over the last 12 games, and Marte has driven in 10 runs during that stretch. For the season, Marte has an .863 OPS, 15 home runs, 42 RBI, three steals and 50 runs scored.       Willi Castro doubled twice and finished with three RBI on Tuesday, leading the Twins to a 7-6 victory over the Rays.

      Advice: Castro put Minnesota ahead briefly in a topsy-turvy marathon at Target Field with a bases-clearing double in the fourth inning off Rays starter Aaron Civale. He also recorded another double and walked in this one, reaching base safely in three of his five plate appearances out of the leadoff spot.     • Ketel Marte homers, drives in three vs. Nationals
      Ketel Marte went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday’s win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Marte hit a 434-foot shot off Jake Irvin in the top of the first to give the Diamondbacks an early 2-0 lead. It was Marte’s 15 homer of the season and marks his third-straight game with an RBI. He would later bring home Corbin Carroll on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. The veteran second baseman has bounced back nicely from a down May in which he hit .216 and is now slashing .360/.468/.640 in the month of June with five home runs and 13 RBI.       Miguel Vargas is in left field and batting eighth for Tuesday’s game against the Rockies.

      Advice: Vargas draws his first start for the Dodgers since being recalled earlier this week from Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 24-year-old post-hype prospect tore the cover off the ball earlier this year in the minors and appears poised to finally get an extended shot in Los Angeles with Mookie Betts likely to miss at least two months.       The Dodgers recalled Vargas from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.

      Advice: Shortstop Mookie Betts (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move, but Vargas isn't expected to get the first chance to replace the seven-time All-Star in the Dodgers' everyday lineup. Instead, manager Dave Roberts suggested after Sunday's 3-0 win over the Royals that Miguel Rojas would likely step in as the Dodgers' primary shortstop, so Vargas could be limited to the short-side platoon role in the corner outfield that he previously held during his three-plus-week stay with the big club earlier in the season.       Advice: While fantasy managers might get excited about seeing Vargas back up in the big leagues, it doesn’t seem like he’s at all a candidate to see infield time; he hasn’t played an inning anywhere other than left field this year. The Dodgers have said that Miguel Rojas and Enrique Hernández will fill in at shortstop while Mookie Betts is in on the IL. Vargas can take over Hernández’s outfield innings, but it doesn’t seem like a particularly large role to fill and, as such, Vargas should be left on waiver wires for now.       Advice: Castro went 0-for-3 with a walk in the day game, but he redeemed himself with a strong showing in the nightcap. This was his third multi-hit effort in his last five contests. The 27-year-old is up to a .261/.350/.416 slash line with five home runs, eight stolen bases, 18 RBI, 40 runs scored, 15 doubles and four triples over 71 games this season.       Miguel Vargas is expected to join the Dodgers in Colorado on Monday with Mookie Betts (hand) landing on the injured list.

      Advice: Vargas was just optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday, but he’ll head right back with Betts heading to the injured list. Dodgers’ skipper Dave Roberts said that Miguel Rojas and Enrique Hernandez are likely to see the bulk of the action at shortstop with Betts sidelined, but that Vargas will fill a role on the team’s bench.
