  • Lands on injured list
The White Sox placed Mendick on the 10-day injured list Saturday with lower-back tightness, retroactive to Thursday.

Advice: Mendick's back issues caused him to be scratched from the lineup prior to Friday's game, and it will now officially cost him more than a week as he heads to the IL. Bryan Ramos was recalled from Double-A Birmingham in a corresponding move and should receive the majority of reps at third base while Mendick is sidelined. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago

  • Padres officially acquire Luis Arraez from Marlins
Padres acquired Luis Arraez and cash considerations from the Marlins for OF Dillon Head, OF Jakob Marsee, 1B Nathan Martorella and RHP Woo-Suk Go.

Advice: What was announced Friday is official Saturday. Arraez will head to the Padres after hitting .299 with a 719 OPS over 137 at-bats with the Marlins in 2023, and he’s a career .324/.377/.423 hitter in his time with the Fish and the Twins. He should play everyday and hit near the top of the order, but just keep in mind his strong average doesn’t come with help in other categories. Rotoworld Today, 7:36 am
  • Returns from IL
The Yankees reinstated Berti (groin) from the injured list Saturday.

Advice: Berti will return to the active roster after playing in three rehab games at Double-A Somerset, going 1-for-9 with three walks and a run scored while also stealing a base. His return gives New York additional depth at numerous positions and will cause Taylor Trammell to be designated for assignment in order to create a roster spot. Rotowire.com Today, 7:13 am

  • Throws across infield practice
Gelof (oblique) threw across the infield before Friday's game against the Marlins, the Associated Press reports.

Advice: Gelof was cleared for baseball activities Wednesday, when he began fielding grounders and playing catch. His ability to do some more aggressive throwing Friday is certainly another encouraging benchmark, although it remains unclear when he'll be ready to pick up a bat again. Advice: Cronenworth smacked a 398-foot home run off Slade Cecconi in the fourth inning to give him his third homer in five games. The Padres first baseman also extended his hit streak to seven games, batting .370 (10-for-27) during that time.
