• Battling sinus infection
Nunez hasn't pitched since June 15, and Mets manager Carlos Mendoza indicated earlier this week that the right-hander was dealing with a sinus infection, SNY reports.

Advice: After bouncing between Triple-A and the big-league roster in April and May, Nunez settled in following his latest promotion and is having a breakout campaign in the Mets' bullpen, posting a 2.04 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 26:3 K:BB through 17.2 innings while generating a 42.2 percent whiff rate with his slider. The 28-year-old has four holds on the season, all of which have come in his last six appearances as he works his way into a high-leverage role. Once he's recovered from the infection, Nunez could emerge as a top set-up man for closer Edwin Diaz. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago
  • Pulled after three
Cecconi (2-6) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing one run on five hits over three innings against the Phillies. He struck out two.

Advice: Cecconi completed three innings and was pulled after tossing just 46 pitches, having allowed one earned run. He had tossed at least 70 pitches in each of his previous nine starts, but after allowing five hits and facing 11 batters during the second and third innings combined with a morning game-time temperature of 91 degrees, manager Torey Lovullo decided to pull the plug early on Cecconi's outing. Cecconi was coming off a performance on Tuesday in which he tossed six scoreless against the Nationals. His next start is schedule to come in a much softer matchup next weekend as the Diamondbacks play host to Oakland. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago
  • Tosses seven scoreless
Sanchez (5-3) earned the win Sunday, allowing three hits and striking out four over seven scoreless innings against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Sanchez was highly efficient, needing just 80 pitches through seven and facing just one batter over the minimum thanks to a couple of timely double plays. The seven innings matched a season high for Sanchez, who tossed his eighth quality start and allowed zero runs over six or more innings for the second time this season. It's also the fifth time in his last six starts that Sanchez has allowed one or fewer runs, posting a 1.78 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 23 strikeouts over 35.1 innings during that stretch. His next start is scheduled to take place next weekend when the Phillies welcome Miami into the City of Brotherly Love for a four-game set. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago
  • Blue Jays claim José Cuas off waivers from Cubs
Blue Jays claimed RHP José Cuas off waivers from the Cubs.

Advice: Cuas was designated for assignment last weekend by Chicago after struggling to a lackluster 7.43 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 14/6 K/BB ratio over 13 1/3 innings (nine appearances) this season in the majors. He’ll report to Triple-A Buffalo as extra organizational relief depth for Toronto. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago
  • Cristopher Sánchez cruises in win over D-backs
Cristopher Sánchez shut out the Diamondbacks for seven innings, surrendering just three hits, in the Phillies’ 4-1 win Sunday.

Advice: Sánchez walked none and struck out four in the 80-pitch outing. He gave up a 387-foot fly to Christian Walker in the first that would have been a homer in nine ballparks, but CBP wasn’t one of them. Sánchez has still allowed just one homer in 84 1/3 innings for the year. He’s 5-3 with a 2.67 ERA. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago
  • Slade Cecconi lifted after three versus Phillies
Slade Cecconi was lifted after allowing one run in three innings Sunday in his start against the Phillies.

Advice: Since the Diamondbacks didn’t use their key relievers Saturday and have tomorrow off, they were aggressive in going to the pen today. Cecconi allowed five hits in three innings, so it’s not like he was having an easy time out there anyway. He wound up with the loss, leaving him 2-6 with a 5.74 ERA. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago
  • David Dahl knocks in two in Phillies’ victory
David Dahl went 2-for-4 with two RBI against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Advice: Dahl broke a 1-0 game open in the sixth after an odd balk from Justin Martinez advanced an additional runner into scoring position. Dahl also homered as a pinch-hitter in Saturday’s rout. Prior to that, he’d been in a 2-for-28 rut after a strong first three games with the Phillies. He’ll continue to start in left field against righties for now. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago
  • Eugenio Suárez goes hitless in fifth straight game
Eugenio Suárez went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in the loss to the Phillies on Sunday.

Advice: There was talk of Suárez playing less after Geraldo Perdomo came off the IL earlier this month, but it’s barely materialized; he sat out two of Arizona’s first five games with Perdomo back, but he’s now started six in a row, even though his results have remained awful. This is his fifth straight hitless game, and his average is down to .192. His last multi-RBI game came on Apr. 22. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago
  • Claimed by Jays
The Blue Jays claimed Cuas off waivers from the Cubs on Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Buffalo.

Advice: Cuas was jettisoned off Chicago's 40-man roster last week after posting a 7.43 ERA and 1.65 WHIP through 13.1 innings in the big leagues. His Triple-A numbers haven't been much better (6.35 ERA, 1.68 WHIP), and while he will reclaim a 40-man roster spot upon joining his new organization, the 29-year-old righty surely has plenty of work to do in Buffalo before the Blue Jays can consider adding him to their MLB bullpen.
