  • Jalen Beeks blows another save Thursday
    Jalen Beeks blew his second save in as many days against the Athletics on Thursday.

    Advice: Beeks started the ninth inning with a one-run lead and immediately gave it up by allowing a home run to Athletics outfield Daz Cameron. He’s now converted just four of his seven opportunities for saves. The 30-year-old left-hander’s grip on the closer role in Colorado seems tenuous at best. Rotoworld Today, 4:02 pm
     
  • Estes allows four runs in no-decision
    Joey Estes allowed four runs in seven innings, struck out six and got a no-decision against the Rockies on Thursday.



    Advice: Seven innings marked the longest start of Estes’ young major league career. The six strikeouts were also a career-high for him. He’s still not usable in fantasy, but it was something for him to build on. The 22-year-old right-hander Is set to face the Rays on the road next week.

  • Feltner tosses six shutout innings Thursday
    Ryan Feltner threw six shutout innings, struck out six, and got a no-decision in the Rockies’ 10-9 loss to the Athletics on Thursday.



    Advice: Feltner cruised through six innings against the Athletics and left the game with a 4-0 lead. The Rockies bullpen couldn’t hold that lead, though. Feltner has just one win in 10 starts this season and his ERA is now 5.07. The 27-year-old right-hander is set to face the Guardians at home next week.

  • Twins option Caleb Boushley to Triple-A
    Twins optioned RHP Caleb Boushley to Triple-A St. Paul.

    Advice: Boushley heads back to the minors ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Rangers. The 30-year-old righty made just one relief appearance in his brief stint with the Twins. Rotoworld Today, 3:48 pm
     
  • To resume throwing
    Wells (elbow) plans to resume throwing this week in Sarasota, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

    Advice: This would be the first time Wells would play catch since May 1, which was right before he was sent for additional testing. The right-hander was placed on the injured list April 13 due to right elbow inflammation. His last outing was April 12 when he allowed four runs through four innings against Milwaukee.     Tyler Wells (elbow) has been cleared to resume throwing.

    Advice: Wells hit the injured list back in mid-April with right elbow inflammation and has finally been cleared to kick off a throwing program. The 29-year-old righty is still several weeks, if not longer, away from being an option for Baltimore’s starting rotation mix, which took a hit earlier this week with John Means suffering a forearm strain.   • Takes sixth loss
    Heaney (0-6) took the loss Thursday against the Phillies, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out one.

    Advice: Heaney held the Phillies scoreless until J.T. Realmuto's leadoff homer in the third inning before they'd tack on three more runs in the fourth. It was ultimately another tough outing for the left-hander, who's failed to make it out of the fourth inning in consecutive starts. Heaney's ERA sits at 4.69 with a 1.38 WHIP and 45:13 K:BB across 10 starts (48 innings) this season.   • Raisel Iglesias fans two Thursday for 12th save
    Raisel Iglesias fired a perfect ninth inning on Thursday against the Cubs to collect his 12th save of the season.

    Advice: Iglesias received the call to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and required just 12 pitches (nine strikes) to end it. The 34-year-old veteran stopper has been one of the top closers in the entire fantasy landscape this season, converting 12 of 14 save chances to accompany a solid 2.33 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 14/5 K/BB ratio ac ross 19 1/3 innings (20 appearances).   • AJ Smith-Shawver sharp in season debut vs. Cubs
    AJ Smith-Shawver fired 4 1/3 scoreless innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

    Advice: Smith-Shawver looked sharp on Thursday afternoon against the Cubs, carrying a shutout into the fifth inning before Braves manager Brian Snitker elected to turn things over to the bullpen rather than let him face the top of Chicago’s lineup for a third time. He surrendered just three hits, struck out four and issued only a pair of walks. He generated nine swinging strikes and finished with a 24 percent CSW. The 21-year-old righty rocketed to the big leagues last year, but hasn’t had a ton of success at the highest level. There’s a possibility he gets an extended look over the rest of the year, but that remains to be seen. He’s currently in line to take the ball next Wednesday against the Nationals.
