    • Notches another save
Neris worked around a hit to pitch a scoreless ninth inning and record the save in Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Mets.

Advice: Shota Imanaga dominated the Mets across seven innings, and then Neris shut things down to secure his fifth save of the season. The veteran righty has pitched well since taking over closing duties from Adbert Alzolay, as Neris has allowed just one earned run over his last five appearances, lowering his season ERA to 3.27. While things could change at some point, it looks like Neris is locked in as the closer in Chicago for now. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:15 pm
    • Héctor Neris holds on for fifth save Wednesday
Héctor Neris worked a scoreless ninth inning for the save against the Mets on Wednesday.

Advice: Neris was summoned in the ninth inning to close out the game with a one-run lead. He recorded one out, then hit a batter and gave up a double to put the tying run on third and the go-ahead run in scoring position. Jeff McNeil hit a fly out and Pete Alonso was tagged out at home to end the game. Neris is up to five saves despite some shaky outings. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:55 pm
    • Gets back on track
Crochet didn't factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk across five innings against the Twins. He struck out seven.

Advice: After surrendering five or more runs in three straight starts, Crochet snapped out of the funk and only allowed the Twins to score on a two-run homer by Carlos Santana in the second frame. Crochet also had strong command, walking just one batter after yielding seven walks and two hit-by-pitches in his last three outings. Although Crochet has been inconsistent to kick off 2024, his strikeout stuff has been elite, boasting the second most K's in baseball. He's lined up for a Saturday start against the Cardinals. • Garrett Crochet bounces back Monday vs. Twins
Garrett Crochet struck out seven and allowed two runs over five innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Twins.

Advice: Crochet gave up just two hits and only handed out one free pass as a second-inning homer by veteran Carlos Santana accounted for all of the damage against him. He generated 13 swinging strikes and finished with a solid 34 percent CSW. It was a much-needed bounce-back outing for the 24-year-old southpaw after allowing at least five earned runs in three consecutive starts since April 13. He’ll bring a bloated 5.97 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 47/9 K/BB ratio across 34 2/3 innings (seven starts) into a road matchup on Sunday against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The underlying metrics suggest that he’s pitched better than his surface stats, which means fantasy managers should continue keeping him rostered outside of extremely shallow mixed leagues. • Escapes with save
Adam allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning Monday. He struck out two and earned a save over the Brewers.

Advice: Adam also hit a batter and faced a bases-loaded situation with two outs but still narrowly finished off the 1-0 win. It was his first save of the year after blowing his only other chance April 5 against the Rockies. Adam now owns a 1.29 ERA with a 12:4 K:BB and seven holds through 14 innings. • Secures fourth save
Neris worked around two walks to pitch a clean ninth inning and record the save in Monday's 3-1 win over the Mets. He struck out two.

Advice: Neris put a few runners on base, but he got out of trouble to secure his fourth save of the season. All of those saves have come in the last nine days, which coincides with Adbert Alzolay getting removed from the closer's role. The more success Neris has moving forward, the firmer his grip will get on the job, which will only increase his fantasy value. The veteran is the top Chicago reliever to target at the moment. • Héctor Neris notches fourth save Monday vs. Mets
Héctor Neris tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Monday against the Mets to record his fourth save of the season.

Advice: Neris continues to tighten his hold on Chicago’s closing role, converting four of his five save chances, including three in the last week alone since Adbert Alzolay was removed from the late-inning mix. The 34-year-old righty has allowed just one run over his last seven appearances since April 13. At this point, he should be rostered in all fantasy leagues. Rotoworld Monday, 6:27 pm
    • Records fifth save
Bednar earned the save against the Giants on Saturday, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three over one inning.

Advice: Bednar entered the game with a three-run lead in the bottom of the 10th and surrendered a two-run shot to Jorge Soler in the leadoff at-bat to make it 4-3. The reliever also allowed an infield single in the frame but managed to work his way through it, getting all his outs by way of strikeout. Bednar has now converted each of his last four save attempts, though he's also allowed at least one run in back-to-back appearances, leaving him with a dreadful 13.50 ERA in April. • David Bednar hangs on for save against Giants
David Bednar was charged with two runs (one earned) in the 10th inning on Saturday against the Giants, but still managed to record his fifth save of the season.

Advice: Bednar got the call to protect a three-run lead in extra innings and immediately served up a two-run homer to Giants slugger Jorge Soler, which slashed the lead down to a single run. He struck out Michael Conforto before giving up a one-out single to Thairo Estrada, but managed to escape the jam by striking out LaMonte Wade Jr. and Mike Yastrzemski to end the contest. He’s converted just five of eight save chances this season and holds an inflated 11.70 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 15/3 K/BB ratio across 10 innings (12 appearances). It’s hard to draw firm conclusions based on early-season results, but Bednar has certainly struggled out of the gate. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:01 am
