• Dealing with side issue
Hamilton (side) exited Monday's contest against Toronto due to left side discomfort in the fourth inning, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Hamilton was removed from the game in bottom of the fourth inning after striking out for a second time in the top of the frame. The shortstop may have tweaked something in his side in his final at-bat of the day and a more exact diagnosis will likely be provided by the Red Sox after Monday's game concludes. • David Hamilton exits game with side discomfort
David Hamilton departed Monday’s game due to left side discomfort.

Advice: That’s not usually good, but there’s the chance it might be minor. If Hamilton is forced to the IL, perhaps the Red Sox would take a look at Chase Meidroth at shortstop. The other option would be to just bring back Jamie Westbrook, who was sent down today. In that case, Romy Gonzalez and maybe Ceddanne Rafaela would play short. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago
  • Exits early versus Toronto
Hamilton (undisclosed) was removed from Monday's contest with the Blue Jays in the bottom of the fourth inning, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Hamilton struck out swinging in the top of the fourth inning, exiting the game prior to taking the field in the bottom of the frame. The 26-year-old will finish his day 0-for-2 with two punchouts and an update on his status will likely be provided before the conclusion of Monday's contest. In the meantime, Romy Gonzalez shifted over to shortstop while Enmanuel Valdez entered the lineup at second base. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago
  • David Hamilton leaves game in fourth inning
David Hamilton left Monday’s game in the fourth inning with an undisclosed injury.

Advice: Enmanuel Valdez replaced him, with Romy Gonzalez moving from second to short. It’d be awful timing for Hamilton to suffer a significant injury, especially after he was just picked up in every league in which he was available. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago
  • Expected to join team in San Diego
Junis (shoulder) is expected to join the Brewers during their four-game road series against the Padres beginning Thursday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Junis will meet the team in San Diego barring any discomfort from his sim game in Arizona on Monday according to manager Pat Murphy. The 31-year-old has been on the injured list since April 6 with a right shoulder impingement and a subsequent head injury, but he now appears to be on the cusp of a return to the major-league roster. It's unclear if Junis will be asked to step into the starting rotation upon his activation from the 60-day IL, but he'll likely be back in the rotation sooner rather than later. • Dodgers expect Betts (hand) to miss 6-8 weeks
The Dodgers’ current guess is that Mookie Betts will miss 6-8 weeks with a fractured left hand.

Advice: Sounds about right. The Dodgers will mostly go with Miguel Rojas at shortstop for now; manager Dave Roberts said he’d start three of the four games in Colorado this week. Enrique Hernández figures to get the nod in the other. Rotoworld 36 minutes ago

  • Back on bench Monday
Cave is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Cave had started in 11 of the Rockies' last 12 games, but he'll head to the bench with Nolan Jones having returned from the injured list and with Brenton Doyle (knee) back in the lineup after a two-game absence. Though Cave has turned in a serviceable .250/.341/.389 slash line thus far in June, he could be relegated to a bench role now that Colorado has reclaimed some health in the outfield. • William Contreras (head) available off bench
William Contreras is available to come off the bench Monday after leaving Sunday’s game with a head injury.

Advice: Contreras hasn’t had any concussion symptoms today, so the Brewers are confident that he’s going to be OK. They did have Gary Sánchez start behind the plate tonight, but Contreras is available to hit and play defense. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago

  • Jakob Junis (shoulder, head) likely to come off IL
Jakob Junis will likely come off the injured list and pitch for the Brewers this weekend.

Advice: Junis, coming back from shoulder and head injuries, didn’t impress in his second rehab start June 8, but instead of having him do another one, he’s been pitching sim games with the Brewers. It’s unclear whether he’ll start against the Padres this weekend or pitch in relief initially. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago
