• Serving as opener Friday
Maldonado will be recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville to serve as an opener for the Marlins on Friday against the Nationals.

Advice: It will be the major-league debut for Maldonado, who has posted a 2.31 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB over 11.2 innings with Jacksonville this season. Kyle Tyler would seem to be a candidate to fill multiple innings behind Maldonado on Friday. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago

  • Struggling to get outs
Chapman (0-2) allowed two earned runs on two hits and no walks while striking out one to take the loss Thursday against the Brewers.

Advice: Chapman entered the game in the eighth inning with a one-run lead. He initially ran into some bad luck when a runner reached base on weak contact that didn't leave the infield, but he then threw a wild pitch and served up a home run to Gary Sanchez. Chapman began the season with 5.1 scoreless innings, but he's since allowed six earned runs across his last 2.2 frames and four appearances. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago
  • Activated from restricted list
The Marlins reinstated Brazoban (personal) from the restricted list Thursday.

Advice: Brazoban landed on the restricted list prior to Opening Day due to visa issues, which have evidently been resolved. Though he's now back on the Marlins' 40-man roster, it's unclear when the reliever might be ready to join the 26-man active roster. Since he missed all of spring training, Brazoban will presumably need to make several appearances in the minors before being an option for the big-league bullpen. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago

  • Pitches eighth inning Thursday
Payamps pitched a scoreless eighth inning of Thursday's 7-5 win over the Pirates, giving up one hit and one walk en route to claiming his third hold of the season.

Advice: Just one day after notching his fourth save of the season, Payamps moved to a setup role Thursday, with Trevor Megill coming on in the ninth inning to nab his first save. Brewers manager Pat Murphy hasn't clarified that Megill will be the team's top option for save chances moving forward, so Payamps could end finding himself as part of a committee at closer with Megill and perhaps Abner Uribe. • Nabs first save
Megill pitched a perfect ninth inning Thursday to notch his first save of the season in the Brewers' 7-5 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Megill and Joel Payamps flipped roles from Wednesday's 3-2 win, when Megill pitched a clean eighth inning before Payamps pitched the ninth and collected the save. It's uncertain whom the Brewers will turn to for the next save opportunity, which tracks with manager Pat Murphy's comments from earlier in the season indicating that intended to "pass the Fireman's hat around" with the save chances once Devin Williams (back) got injured. • Secures fourth save
Jax earned the save in a win over the White Sox on Thursday, striking out one over two-thirds of an inning.

Advice: Jax entered the game with one out and a four-run lead in the top of the ninth and got Eloy Jimenez to go down swinging before Robbie Grossman reached on a fielding error in the following at-bat, scoring Nicky Lopez. He then needed just one pitch to retire the final batter via groundout and secure his fourth save of the season. Jax has not allowed a run in either of his last four appearances and had held his opponents hitless in each of his last three, striking out four over that stretch while not issuing any walks. • Yankees option Cody Morris to Triple-A
Yankees optioned RHP Cody Morris to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Advice: Morris was called up last Friday, but didn’t end up making an appearance for the Yankees before being shipped back to the minors. The 27-year-old righty figures to continue shuttling back and forth between New York’s bullpen and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre over the next few months. Rotoworld Today, 2:53 am

  • Keeps rolling with another save
Miller notched a save against the Yankees on Thursday, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings during which he allowed one hit and struck out three batters.

Advice: Miller continues to flourish in the closer role -- he's a perfect six-for-six in save opportunities so far and hasn't given up a run since his first outing of the campaign. The right-hander's heater is also paying off with big strikeout numbers, as he's racked up an impressive 23 punchouts over 11.1 frames. Despite the fact that Miller plays for one of the league's worst teams, he's quickly evolving into one of fantasy's most desirable closers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:58 pm

  • Notches first win of season
Wood (1-2) earned the win over the Yankees on Thursday, allowing one run on eight hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Wood allowed plenty of traffic on the basepaths, but the only run that crossed the plate against him came on a second-inning Jose Trevino solo homer. This was by far the left-hander's best outing in an A's uniform -- he came into the contest holding a 7.89 ERA and 2.03 WHIP while failing to go five innings in three of his five starts. One strong start isn't going to wipe away Wood's poor overall body of work on the campaign, but it at least helped him get into the win column for the first time and provided hope that he could yet turn things around.
