    • Transferred to 60-day IL
The Athletics transferred Hernaiz (ankle) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Aaron Brooks, who is starting Wednesday's game versus the Astros. Hernaiz suffered a severe left ankle sprain a week ago and now won't be eligible to return until early July. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago

    • Goes on IL with rotator cuff injury
The Athletics placed Wood (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with left rotator cuff tendinitis.

Advice: The transaction is retroactive to Monday, so Wood will be eligible to come off the IL as soon as May 28. Given Wood's long track record of injuries and history as a slow healer, however, fantasy managers who have been rostering the veteran southpaw should probably prepare for him to miss more than the minimum 15 days. Wood's shoulder issue had been bothering him during his most recent start this past Sunday in Seattle, prompting the Athletics to pull him after just two innings while his fastball velocity was down about two ticks from his season-long average. The Athletics haven't named an immediate replacement in the rotation for Wood, but Kyle Muller tossed four innings in relief of the lefty last Sunday and could be stretched out enough to step into the vacant starting role this weekend in Kansas City. • Sent down to minors
The Athletics optioned Basso to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Advice: Basso was up in the majors for just one day and didn't make an appearance. The left-hander could still be needed in the Athletics rotation at some point given the big club's mounting injury list, but for now he'll report to Las Vegas. Basso was torched for nine earned runs over 2.1 innings in his lone start with Las Vegas this season but has put up a 2.84 ERA and 32:3 K:BB over 25.1 frames with Double-A Midland. • Moves up from Triple-A
The Athletics recalled Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Advice: Harris was optioned to Las Vegas just one week earlier, but he'll be eligible to rejoin Oakland since he'll be taking the active roster spot of Alex Wood (shoulder), who was placed on the 15-day injured list. Wood's injury will create an opening in the rotation this weekend in Kansas City, and if Harris isn't used in relief Wednesday or Thursday in Houston, he could be a candidate to fill the void. Harris has started in all seven of his appearances for Las Vegas this season, logging a 7.56 ERA and 1.92 WHIP over 25 innings in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. • Athletics recall LHP Hogan Harris from Triple-A
Athletics recalled LHP Hogan Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Harris has made one appearance for the A’s this season, giving up four runs in 5 1/3 innings of relief. He could make starts with Oakland’s rotation in pieces, but he doesn’t seem like a strong candidate after amassing a 7.56 ERA and walking 23 in 25 innings for Las Vegas. • A’s place Alex Wood on IL due to rotator cuff
Athletics placed LHP Alex Wood on the 15-day injured list with left rotator cuff tendinitis.

Advice: With Wood joining Joy Boyle and Paul Blackburn on the IL, the A’s have lost 60% of their rotation this month. Aaron Brooks is starting for the A’s today. Osvaldo Bido might come up in Wood’s place later this week. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

    • A’s shift Darell Hernaiz to 60-day IL
Athletics transferred INF Darell Hernaiz from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: That must be a pretty bad ankle sprain that Hernaiz suffered last week. The A’s are currently rolling with Max Schuemann as their everyday shortstop. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

    • Resting against lefty
Marsh is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Advice: With lefty Joey Lucchesi on the bump for the Mets, the lefty-hitting Marsh will head to the bench Wednesday. Cristian Pache replaces him in left field. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago

    • Heads back to the bench
Stubbs is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Advice: While J.T. Realmuto managed a sore knee, Stubbs started behind the plate in each of the past three games, going 1-for-12 with a stolen base. Realmuto is back in the lineup at catcher Wednesday, and provided he doesn't experience any setbacks with his knee, he should take on a hefty workload moving forward. Prior to Realmuto's recent absence, Stubbs had started in just six of the Phillies' first 40 games of the season. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago
