    • Héctor Neris implodes in loss to Rays on Tuesday
Héctor Neris blew a save on Tuesday, allowing four runs on three hits in a loss to the Rays.

Advice: Neris had seemed to be turning the corner early in the month, but tonight was rough. He started the inning with a lead-off double and then after a strikeout, he issued a walk and a run-scoring single. He was able to strike out Yandy Diaz to get himself one out away from sending the game to extra innings but instead served up a three-run home run to Brandon Lowe to lose the game. He has a 4.01 ERA on the season and is not a sure thing to remain the Cubs’ closer through the summer. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:24 pm

    • Takes first loss in rough outing
Neris (6-1) allowed four runs on three hits while retiring just two batters to take the loss Tuesday against the Rays. He walked one and struck out two.

Advice: Neris was tasked with protecting a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the ninth, but he allowed a double and a single to blow his third save of the year. He still had a chance to push the contest into extra innings until he served up a three-run home run to Brandon Lowe with two outs, which gave Tampa Bay the 5-2 win. It marked the first loss of the season for the veteran reliever, who saw his ERA climb from 2.63 to 4.01 in the process. This was also only the second long ball served up by Neris this year across 24.2 innings. While this effort hurts his overall stat line, Neris should have a little leeway as Chicago's closer given his solid play to this point. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 6:46 pm

    • Should make next start
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said Tuesday that Lively (undisclosed) has checked out fine and is expected to make his next turn through the rotation, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 32-year-old experienced some unspecified tightness during his start in Miami over the weekend, which resulted in him being lifted after five scoreless innings. Lively hasn't had any issues over the past couple days, putting him on track to start this weekend in Toronto. Cleveland should confirm its pitching plans later in the week. • Vogt: Ben Lively to make next scheduled start
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt told reporters Ben Lively (undisclosed) is on track to make his next start.

Advice: Lively went back to Cleveland over the weekend to undergo additional testing for an undisclosed injury. The 32-year-old journeyman appears to have checked out fine and will presumably take the ball on Saturday against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:06 pm

    • Receives injection
Flaherty (back), who received an injection Monday and is scheduled to play catch Wednesday, is expected to start this weekend against the Astros if he remains free of setbacks, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 28-year-old exited his start last Tuesday due to back tightness and originally lined up to make his next turn through the rotation Tuesday versus Washington, but his spot has been pushed back a few days. Flaherty's throwing session Wednesday should provide some clarity for his availability this weekend. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:54 pm

    • Jack Flaherty to start this weekend vs. Astros
Jack Flaherty (back) received an anti-inflammatory injection on Monday.

Advice: Flaherty has already been ruled out from making his next start on Tuesday night against the Nationals, but remains on track to take the ball to take the ball at some point this weekend against the Astros. Barring an unexpected setback, it appears likely he’ll avoid a trip to the injured list. The 28-year-old righty has seemingly put it all together this season in his Tigers debut, returning to form as one of the premier fantasy starters in the game. It’s an encouraging update that he’s still on track to take the ball this week. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:26 pm

    • Scheduled for bullpen session
Wacha (foot) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Advice: It will be the first time Wacha has thrown off a mound since he suffered a non-displaced left foot fracture back on May 31 when he was hit by a comebacker. The hope is that he will be able to rejoin the Royals' rotation before the end of the month, but he still has some steps to take in his progression and might need a rehab start. • Gets checked for undisclosed injury
Lively returned to Cleveland on Monday to undergo further medical exams for an undisclosed injury, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.

Advice: The injury presumably stems from Lively's most recent start in Miami on Saturday, when he was lifted from the game after throwing 65 pitches over five shutout innings. Per the Associated Press, manager Stephen Vogt said that Lively experienced some tightness after sitting for an extended period in the top of the fifth inning, when the Guardians erupted for six runs. Vogt didn't expound any further beyond that, but the fact that Lively temporarily left the Guardians to get examined more closely suggests that his early exit wasn't merely precautionary. The Guardians have off days Monday and Thursday and can get by with a shortened rotation for a bit if they choose, so Lively may not be in line to pitch during this weekend's series in Toronto even if he doesn't require a stay on the injured list. Lively has been a pleasant surprise for the Guardians and fantasy managers alike, as he's won each of his last five starts while ringing up a 2.54 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over 28.1 innings. • Poised for weekend return
Flaherty (back) is expected to make his next start during the Tigers' three-game series in Houston that begins Friday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Flaherty was forced out of his most recent start against the Rangers this past Tuesday, when he tossed five scoreless innings before being lifted on account of back tightness. The right-hander downplayed his injury when he addressed the media after the game and said that he expected to make his next start in Tuesday's series opener versus the Nationals, but the Tigers have since elected to err on the side of caution and give Flaherty a few extra days to recover. Detroit will take advantage of Monday's off day to reshuffle the rotation, with Kenta Maeda, Reese Olson and Casey Mize picking up starts Tuesday through Thursday before Flaherty and ace Tarik Skubal start the first two games of the series in Houston in some order. Though Flaherty looks like he won't be operating under any restrictions against the Astros after playing catch Friday and throwing a bullpen session Sunday without issue, the change in the pitching order means that he'll miss out on a two-start week.
