  • Sitting out series opener
Paredes is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Paredes was hit in the helmet by a pitch in the seventh inning of Sunday's 10-6 loss to the Yankees, but he stayed in the game after being checked out. His absence from the lineup a day later may create some level of concern about his health, but Paredes could just be receiving a maintenance day after he had started in each of the Rays' last nine games. Amed Rosario will replace Paredes at the hot corner Monday, and for now, the expectation is that Paredes will be back in the lineup Tuesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:48 pm
  • Gio Urshela (hamstring) likely to return Tuesday
Gio Urshela will likely rejoin the Tigers prior to Tuesday’s game.

Advice: Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press anticipates that Akil Baddoo will be sent down to make room. Urshela, out since April 19 with a strained hamstring, is 5-for-8 over three games on a rehab assignment. He’ll likely see quite a bit of time at third base, with Matt Vierling getting more action in the outfield. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:33 pm

  • Pavin Smith in lineup for first time in five games
Pavin Smith is making his first start since Wednesday in Monday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: The Diamondbacks picked Jake McCarthy over Smith the last two times they faced righties, and neither of the two plays against lefties. Most likely, either Smith or McCarthy is going to be sent down when Alek Thomas returns, though Thomas’s setback last week means that’s probably not imminent. Smith is hitting .207/,258/.379 in 31 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:29 pm
  • Exits starting nine
Cooper is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: Cooper enjoyed a productive weekend in the Red Sox's series victory over the Nationals, starting in two of the three contests while producing three hits (two doubles, one single), one run and one RBI over six at-bats. He'll cede first base to Dominic Smith on Monday, but Cooper still looks to be locked into a near-everyday role for the Red Sox until Triston Casas (rib) returns from the injured list. • Runs bases Sunday
LeMahieu (foot) ran the bases Sunday and will take live batting practice again Tuesday, Mark Didtler of the Associated Press reports.

Advice: Running the bases is a significant step in LeMahieu's recovery from a non-displaced fracture of his right foot. The veteran infielder has also been taking batting practice and fielding ground balls, and he could restart a minor-league rehab assignment soon. LeMahieu had begun a rehab stint April 23 but had to be pulled after just one inning due to experiencing soreness in the injured foot. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:27 am

  • Nearing rehab stint
Jones (back) will join Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday but will not immediately begin a rehab assignment, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Jones is traveling to Albuquerque with Kris Bryant (back), but he's behind his teammate in his recovery process. He'll continue to ramp up his activity prior to appearing in games, but the Rockies hope he'll be ready to return from the 10-day injured list by late May. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:14 am

  • Continues hot stretch
Diaz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored Sunday against the Yankees.

Advice: Diaz launched his second homer in as many games and his third of the season. He has turned his results around in May, as he's maintained a .333 average with eight RBI and eight runs scored across 10 games. Diaz remains locked in as the Rays' leadoff hitter and should be a strong source of batting average and runs scored moving forward. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:41 am
  • Four straight multi-hit games
Duran started at third base and went 2-for-3 with a walk in Sunday's 3-1 loss to Colorado.

Advice: Duran made a fifth consecutive start and has hit safely in all five, including multiple hits in the last four of those contests. It's a relatively light hitting streak; he's 10-for-17 during that stretch with with just one RBI and 10 singles. Still, opportunity matters. With playing time available at third base, left field and designated hitter due to injuries, Duran has started seven of the last eight games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:21 am

  • Three hits, homer
Wisdom went 3-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's 5-4 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Wisdom reached four times during the extra-inning win and belted a solo homer off Aroldis Chapman in the 10th frame. With Cody Bellinger and Seiya Suzuki healthy, starts will likely come at a premium for Wisdom despite slashing .321/.441/.679 across 34 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:14 pm
