Commish Notes

  • Welcome back for Year 13 of East Coast Bias. Below are the keeper rules; I am working on updating keeper prices now to help expedite keeper selections for existing teams.

Player @ same price will be on a 1 yr contract (you can keep this year but he can't be kept next yr even if traded). Players with a price marked as $0 are not eligible to be kept in the current year (although they can be redrafted at the auction)

Long-term contract: every year of the contract will be at same price, which has $5 added per year of the contract. This player cannot be dropped until the final year of the contract. If the player is traded, the contract goes with the player and the new owner has to keep him. Ex: Trout was signed to a 4 year deal after drafting him at $2, so he cost $22 each of the 4 years, but he had to go back into the draft last season.

If you want to keep a player off the wire last year, the price is $10 as a default draft price.

Trading draft picks. Since we auction draft-trading draft picks will have a monetary value. Since yahoo states draft picks traded have to be equal in number, some picks will have $0 value. That way if you want to include some future draft dollars in a trade the other player can trade zero value draft pick in return.

Draft Pick Round Values (i.e. a 1st round draft pick traded will result in one team having $45 less dollars in the following year draft and the other team will have $45 more)
    1 $ 40.00
    2 $ 35.00
    3 $ 30.00
    4 $ 25.00
    5 $ 20.00
    6 $ 19.00
    7 $ 18.00
    8 $ 17.00
    9 $ 16.00
    10 $ 15.00
    11 $ 14.00
    12 $ 13.00
    13 $ 12.00
    14 $ 11.00
    15 $ 10.00
    16 $ 8.00
    17 $ 6.00
    18 $ 5.00
    19 $ 4.00
    20 $ 3.00
    21 $ 2.00
    22 $ 1.00
    23-28 $0

You may not trade away more than $175 of your draft money for the next year. There is no max on acquisition of draft money for the next season.

Trades of potential keepers and draft money must be completed no later than 5 days before the keeper deadline so there is plenty of time to modify budgets (but the official switch in rosters may not occur until after the draft, depending on how well the commissioner tools work)

Existing multiyear contracts: (MUST BE KEPT)
    Bobby Witt 3rd of 4 years ($24)
Shohei Ohtani (batter) 3rd of 4 years ($21)
Noah Syndergaard 3rd of 3 years (16) (can be dropped after the draft)
    Oneal Cruz 2nd of 2 years ($16)

    New multiyear contracts:
    Cody Bellinger 1st of 3 years ($21)
    Edwin Diaz 1st of 2 years ($13)
    Walker Buehler 1st of 2 years ($11)
    Bryce Harper 1st of 2 years ($29)
