• Goes yard again
Soderstrom went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Soderstrom has homered in back-to-back games, giving him three long balls this season. He's also hit safely in five of his last six contests, going 6-for-17 (.353) in that span. The 22-year-old had struggled to get anything going earlier in the season, but he's now at a .222/.347/.413 slash line with three homers, eight RBI and five runs scored over 75 plate appearances. He appears to have leapfrogged J.D. Davis for the starting role at first base, though Soderstrom would still have the advantage if it ultimately becomes a platoon situation. • Belts first-pitch homer
Toro went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Toro got the game started right for the Athletics, taking Randy Vasquez's first pitch of the contest out to center field. The homer was Toro's sixth of the year, but his first since May 21. He's gone 6-for-26 (.231) over his last six games, though he's maintained steady playing time at third base and atop the order. He's slashing .268/.311/.402 with 24 RBI, 31 runs scored, 14 doubles, one triple and three stolen bases through 66 contests. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago

  • Rocked by Yankees
Singer (4-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Yankees, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and a walk across 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Singer was in trouble from the start, allowing a triple to Anthony Volpe on just his second pitch of the day as part of a two-run first inning for the Yankees. Singer had more issues in the fourth, where Austin Wells launched a three-run home run to plate Giancarlo Stanton and Gleyber Torres to give New York a 6-0 lead. The 27-year-old's seven runs allowed marked a season high and he failed to complete six innings for the fifth time in his last six starts. He'll have another tough draw for his next start, with a road matchup with Dodgers set for Sunday. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago

  • No-decision versus Padres
Sears allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out one over five innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Tuesday.

Advice: Sears was in line for the loss after fading and allowing all three runs in the fifth inning, but Tyler Soderstrom tied the game in the eighth for the Athletics. This was Sears' first no-decision since May 14 -- he went 1-3 while allowing 11 runs (10 earned) over 23.1 innings across his previous four starts. The southpaw has a 4.02 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 54:24 K:BB through 78.1 innings this season. He's projected to make his next start at Minnesota. Rotowire.com 27 minutes ago

  • Delivers walk-off homer
Higashioka went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Athletics.

Advice: Higashioka came up clutch, taking Scott Alexander deep for a walk-off homer in the ninth inning. This was Higashioka's fourth homer in his last five games, all of which have been of the solo variety. The catcher is up to a .188/.212/.453 slash line with five long balls, seven RBI and seven runs scored across 66 plate appearances. He could continue to challenge Luis Campusano for playing time, but Higashioka is more likely to remain in a backup role. Rotowire.com 31 minutes ago

  • Rebounds with win
Stroman (6-2) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing four hits and three walks with one strikeout across 5.2 scoreless innings against Kansas City.

Advice: After allowing a season-high five runs in his last start, Stroman blanked the Royals on Tuesday. However, he struggled with command, finding the strike zone on just 54 of his 102 pitches while issuing three walks. The 33-year-old has generated five combined strikeouts in his last three starts, a stretch in which he's walked seven batters and hit two more. On the year, Stroman owns a 2.82 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP across 79.2 innings. He's lined up to face the Red Sox at Fenway on Sunday. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago
  • Kyle Higashioka hits walkoff homer for Padres
Kyle Higashioka took Scott Alexander deep in a tie game in the bottom of the ninth to give the Padres a 4-3 win over the A’s on Tuesday.

Advice: It’s Higashioka’s first ever walkoff homer. He’s been even Higgier than usual this season in collecting five homers, one walk, five singles and seven RBI through 65 plate appearances as Luis Campusano’s backup. Rotoworld Today, 10:23 pm

  • JP Sears gives up three runs to Padres
JP Sears surrendered three runs and seven hits in five innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Padres.

Advice: Sears hasn’t been all that bad with his 4.02 ERA, but we liked the 2023 version better. He finished with just one strikeout tonight, the fourth time in 14 starts this year that that has happened, and he walked three. Last year, he had more strikeouts than walks in 30 of his 32 starts. This year, he’s 9-for-14. Rotoworld Today, 10:23 pm

  • Tyler Soderstrom hits game-tying homer in eighth
Tyler Soderstrom went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk versus the Padres on Tuesday.

Advice: Soderstrom has homered in back-to-back games, raising his OPS from .622 to .760, and tonight’s tied the game in the eighth inning. Now that the A’s seem to have committed to Soderstrom at first base against righties, he’s of some interest in leagues in which he qualifies at catcher. He doesn’t yet in traditional leagues, as he spent more time at DH than anywhere else in 45-game stint with the A’s last year. He’s appeared in just one major league game at catcher this season, playing four innings off the bench. Tonight’s start was his 19th at first base. Rotoworld Today, 10:23 pm
