    • Mashes leadoff home run
Carroll went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Advice: Carroll led things off by taking Dylan Cease deep to right center to push the Diamondbacks ahead to an early 1-0 lead. It was his first home run since May 7 and his first RBI since June 18. Carroll is now up to three home runs for the year and is exhibiting a significant power decrease after blasting 25 long balls a season ago. The 23-year-old is now slashing .210/.297/.318 with 24 extra-base hits, 24 RBI, 54 runs and a 38:68 BB:K in 379 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago
    • Clubs three-run homer
Kjerstad went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run during Sunday's 6-3 win over Oakland.

Advice: Kjerstad took Mitch Spence yard in the first inning, plating Ryan O'Hearn and Jordan Westburg with the three-run slam. In 51 plate appearances with Baltimore, Kjerstad has posted a .938 OPS with three homers and 12 RBI while carving out a significant role in a loaded Orioles outfield. Rotowire.com Today, 12:49 am
    • Corbin Carroll hits first homer in two months
Corbin Carroll took the Padres’ Dylan Cease deep Sunday for his first homer since May 7.

Advice: Carroll hit the ball 397 feet, his second-farthest shot this year. It’s the first time since that May 7 homer that he’d hit one over 370 feet. Carroll has just one 400-foot blast this season, compared to 21 last year. We still wouldn’t say there’s a whole lot to be encouraged about here. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:47 pm
    • Dazzles for 10th win
Skubal (10-3) allowed one run on three hits over seven innings to earn the win Sunday against the Reds. He struck out 13.

Advice: Skubal was dominant once again Sunday as he recorded a new season high in strikeouts and allowed one run or fewer for the 10th time in 18 starts. The lefty now has a stellar 2.37 ERA and 132 strikeouts across 110 innings this year, which earned him his first All-Star selection on Sunday as well. Skubal has been an excellent fantasy asset, and he's set up to make one more start before the All-Star break, likely on Friday against the Dodgers. It's a tough matchup, but the Detroit ace should remain locked into lineups the rest of the way. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:42 pm
    • Heston Kjerstad hits three-run homer in win
Heston Kjerstad hit a three-run homer in the victory over the A’s on Sunday.

Advice: Kjerstad was making just his second start in five games, which is the same number as Colton Cowser and one less than Austin Hays, even though four of those games were against righties. It’s pretty much impossible to trust either Kjerstad or Cowser in weekly leagues at this point, though either would likely be a useful mixed-league outfielder if the Orioles sent down the other. • Tarik Skubal leads pitching for A.L. All-Stars
Tarik Skubal was named to his first American League All-Star team on Sunday.

Advice: The 27-year-old southpaw racked up a career-best 13 strikeouts in a victory over the Reds on Sunday afternoon, then got the news that he would be heading to the All-Star Game. He’s certainly deserving, having posted a 10-3 record, 2.37 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and a 132/20 K/BB ratio over 110 innings in his first 18 starts. He’ll be joined on the pitching staff for the American League All-Stars by Corbin Burnes, Garrett Crochet, Tanner Houck, Seth Lugo, Cole Ragans, Logan Gilbert, Tyler Anderson, Mason Miller, Kirby Yates, Clay Holmes and Emmanuel Clase. • Paul Skenes headlines pitchers for N.L. All-Stars
Pirates’ rookie right-hander Paul Skenes was named to his first National League All-Star team on Sunday, despite having logged just 59 1/3 innings at the big-league level.

Advice: It’s the first of what should be many All-Star game nods for the studly 22-year-old hurler who has gone 5-0 with a 2.12 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and a 78/12 K/BB ratio through his first 10 MLB starts. He’ll be joined on the N.L. All-Star squad by fellow pitchers Ranger Suarez, Tyler Glasnow, Shota Imanaga, Reynaldo Lopez, Logan Webb, Chris Sale, Zack Wheeler, Ryan Helsley, Tanner Scott, Robert Suarez, Matt Strahm and Jeff Hoffman. • Ezequiel Tovar goes hitless yet again in loss
Ezequiel Tovar remained hitless for the month of July after going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Royals on Sunday.

Advice: Tovar was the clear choice to serve as the Rockies’ token All-Star a couple of weeks ago, but he’s been brutal of late, going 6-for-50 with one extra-base hit, one RBI, zero runs scored and a 20/0 K/BB in his last 12 games. It’s dropped his OPS from .808 to .734. Ryan McMahon might now be the best bet to be the Rockies’ All-Star, with Cal Quantrill and last year’s All-Star Game MVP Elias Díaz also in the mix. • Blows save, takes loss
Chapman (1-4) blew a save and was tagged with Sunday's loss to the Mets. He allowed two runs on two hits, three walks and two strikeouts in 0.2 innings.

Advice: Chapman entered with a one-run lead in the ninth but loaded the bases and gave up a go-ahead two-run single to Francisco Lindor. Chapman was erratic with his control as he matched his season-high with three walks and threw 40 pitches, his third-most in an outing in his career. The veteran has been the Pirates closer since David Bednar went down with an oblique injury, but this is now three straight outings in which he gives up at least one run.
