    • Kicks off rehab assignment
Jones (back) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout and an RBI.

Advice: Jones received three plate appearances and played five innings in left field in his first game action since he landed on the 10-day injured list in late April with a low-back strain. He shouldn't need too many rehab games before being activated since he hasn't been sidelined for an extended period, but the Rockies haven't provided a firm target date for his return to the big club. The 26-year-old has slashed a disappointing .170/.243/.277 with one home run and two stolen bases over 103 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:16 am

    • Goes deep again Monday
Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-5 win over the Marlins.

Advice: After going the first 37 games of the season without launching any home runs, Torkelson has now blasted off in consecutive contests. Both home runs were two-run shots, and the 24-year-old could certainly keep it going, as he's shown the ability to hit long balls in bunches. Torkelson recorded a career-best 31 home runs last year, to go along with 94 RBI. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:02 pm
    • Spencer Torkelson hits go-ahead homer vs. Marlins
Spencer Torkelson slugged a go-ahead two-run homer on Monday, lifting the Tigers to a 6-5 victory over the Marlins.

Advice: It was a big-time moment for Torkelson, who desperately needed one after a rocky few weeks to start to the year. The 24-year-old former first-overall pick connected for a go-ahead blast off Marlins reliever Anthony Maldonado in the eighth inning for just his second round-tripper of the season. It’s difficult to pinpoint the root of his struggles, especially since his plate skills have remained adequate, but he’s coming off a 31-homer campaign and should start hitting for more power once the weather warms up. He’s homered in back-to-back contests and might finally be getting going at the dish. Rotoworld Monday, 6:52 pm
    • Nearing rehab stint
Jones (back) will join Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday but will not immediately begin a rehab assignment, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Jones is traveling to Albuquerque with Kris Bryant (back), but he's behind his teammate in his recovery process. He'll continue to ramp up his activity prior to appearing in games, but the Rockies hope he'll be ready to return from the 10-day injured list by late May. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:14 am

    • Launches first homer of 2024
Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Astros.

Advice: Torkelson finally broke through for his first home run of the 2024 season, launching a two-run shot off of Houston reliever Seth Martinez with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. After producing 31 home runs over 159 games in 2023, it took the first baseman 38 contests to go deep in 2024. Torkelson is now batting .224 with a home run, 14 RBI and 15 runs scored over those 38 games. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:06 pm
    • Spencer Torkelson gets first homer of 2024
Spencer Torkelson finally hit his first homer of the season Sunday against the Astros.

Advice: It was about as meaningless as a homer can be, coming with the Tigers down 9-1 with two outs in the ninth, but let’s not worry about that. Torkelson, who hit 31 homers last season, got his first today in his 164th plate appearances and 38th game. He had four doubles in his previous six games, so it did seem like the drought was due to end. His OPS has climbed from .553 on May 4 to .627 now. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:03 pm
    • Belts grand slam in victory
Canha went 1-for-3 with a grand slam and two walks Saturday in an 8-2 victory versus the Astros.

Advice: Canha set the tone early for the Tigers with a second-inning grand slam off Houston starter Cristian Javier. It was a much-needed big hit for the veteran slugger, who had gone 2-for-24 without an RBI while striking out nine times over his previous six games. The grand slam was the third of Canha's career. • Mark Canha crushes grand slam in win over Astros
Mark Canha crushed a grand slam in the second inning on Saturday night as the Tigers pummeled the Astros at Comerica Park.

Advice: Riley Greene drew a bases-loaded walk in the second inning to push the first run across, then Canha broke the game wide open with his 393-foot (102.9 mph EV) four-run blast off of Astros’ right-hander Cristian Javier. He also drew a pair of walks in the contest, finishing the night 1-for-3. On the season, the 35-year-old outfielder is now hitting .242/.365/.452 with six long balls, 20 RBI and one stolen base. • Nolan Jones heading out on rehab assignment
Nolan Jones (back) will join Triple-A Albuquerque to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.

Advice: Kris Bryant (back) will start his rehab assignment on Tuesday, with Jones likely a day or two behind him. Rockies’ manager Bud Black said Sunday that both injured outfielders could return to the team at some point during their upcoming road trip. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:19 pm
