    • Cruises with seven scoreless frames
Kirby (4-3) earned the win over Kansas City on Monday, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out six batters over seven scoreless innings.

Advice: Kirby was shaky to begin his outing, allowing a single to the second hitter he faced and then loading the bases on consecutive hit-by-pitches. He worked his way out of that threat, though, and yielded just two harmless singles the rest of the way to finish with his fourth scoreless start of the campaign. The right-hander had an 8.16 ERA through three starts this season but has lowered that to 3.58 by giving up two or fewer runs in five of his subsequent six appearances. He's registered four quality starts over that stretch. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:17 pm

    • George Kirby blanks Royals over seven in victory
George Kirby held the Royals to three hits with six strikeouts in seven shutout innings to help the Mariners to a win Monday by a 6-2 score.

Advice: After struggling for the majority of his start against the Twins, Kirby bounced back nicely. As is usually the case, he didn’t put on any runners via walk, and he pounded the strike zone with 68-of-101 pitches going for strikes. When Kirby doesn’t have his best stuff/command the results can be problematic. He usually does. Kirby will face the Orioles next. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:17 pm

    • Grabs third save
Adam tossed one scoreless inning to pick up the save Monday against the Red Sox. He walked one and struck out three.

Advice: With Pete Fairbanks unavailable due to a cut on his throwing hand, Adam was called upon Monday to close the door for his third save. Adam, who served as the Rays' main end-game option while Fairbanks was on the shelf prior to his return on May 11, will likely remain the preferred option until Fairbanks is ready to return from his most recent setback. • Gimenez has two hits Monday
Andres Gimenez went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and one RBI against the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Gimenez scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning before hitting an RBI double in the ninth inning. His power has almost completely disappeared as he’s now sporting a .105 ISO on the season. The Guardians lineup has been so good for run scoring that Gimenez has still managed to score 22 runs and drive in 21 runs in 39 games this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:48 pm
    • Earns third win
Eflin (3-4) earned the win Monday, allowing three runs on six hits while not walking a batter over five innings against the Red Sox. He struck out two.

Advice: Eflin was able to grind through five innings, tossing 91 pitches to earn the win for the second-consecutive start. After being staked with a three-run lead before ever taking the hill, Eflin allowed a three-run homer to Tyler O'Neill in the bottom of the first that tied the score. Despite the elevated pitch count through five, Eflin managed to keep the Red Sox off the board throughout the remainder of his start and did not allow a free pass in the process. Eflin will carry a 3.91 ERA and 1.13 WHIP into his next start, tentatively slated to take place over the weekend when the Rays travel to Toronto for a three-game set against the division-rival Blue Jays. • Cristopher Sánchez gives up three runs vs. Mets
Cristopher Sánchez allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Mets.

Advice: Sánchez finished with five strikeouts and also issued three walks. It’s fairly impressive that he was able to get into the middle innings of this one after the Mets got to him for three runs over the first two frames. The 27-year-old lefty will bring a serviceable 3.43 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 39/18 K/BB ratio across 42 innings (eight starts) into a home matchup on Saturday against the Nationals. • Jason Adam receives call for save on Monday
Jason Adam tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Monday against the Red Sox to notch his third save of the season.

Advice: Adam was summoned by Rays manager Kevin Cash to work the final frame with Pete Fairbanks unavailable due to a cut on his right index finger. The 32-year-old righty issued a leadoff walk to Tyler O’Neill, which brought the potential tying run to the plate, but he proceeded to strike out Dominic Smith, Vaughn Grissom and Romy Gonzalez to extinguish any hope of a Boston comeback. He’s converted three of four save chances this season to go along with a pristine 1.47 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 16/7 K/BB ratio across 18 1/3 innings of work. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:17 pm

    • Zach Eflin completes five frames to beat Red Sox
Zach Eflin gave up three runs over five innings on Monday in a win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Eflin was tagged for a three-run blast by Tyler O’Neill in the opening frame, but managed to settle in afterwards, keeping Boston’s lineup scoreless for the remainder of his abbreviated outing at Fenway Park. He struck out two and didn’t hand out a free pass for the sixth time in his last seven starts. The 30-year-old control artist will bring a respectable 3.91 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 41/4 K/BB ratio across 53 innings (nine starts) into a road matchup on Saturday against the division-rival Blue Jays. • Could need just one rehab start
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Whitlock (oblique) could return from the 15-day injured list if all goes well in his rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Worcester, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Whitlock has missed nearly a month with a left oblique strain, but the Red Sox apparently feel that he should be sufficiently built up after just the one rehab start. Cooper Criswell has performed well since joining Boston's rotation, but he could be headed to the bullpen or back to Worcester once Whitlock is activated. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:52 pm
