    Advice: McCarthy maintains a .369 on-base percentage over 86 plate appearances this season and has seemingly moved into an everyday role in the outfield while Alek Thomas (hamstring) is on the shelf, but the 26-year-old will hit the bench Wednesday. The Diamondbacks haven't indicated that the lefty-hitting McCarthy is dealing with an injury, but he was lifted for a pinch hitter in Tuesday's 6-2 win and is now on the bench Wednesday while the Reds bring a right-hander (Graham Ashcraft) to the hill.     Jo Adell went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI as the Angels edged the Pirates 5-4 on Wednesday.

    Advice: Adell, who hit second in three straight games last week, entered in a 1-for-20 slump, so he was back down to eighth in the Angels lineup today. Manager Ron Washington keeps trying to go with the hot hand at the top of the order, but he can’t seem to get the timing right.     Advice: We figured Triolo would prove to be a solid bat for the Pirates, but he’s come in at just .206/.293/.250 to date. Last year, he had 12 extra-base hits in 181 at-bats as a rookie. The 31-year-old came into Tuesday with a .143 average and 32.3 percent strikeout rate over the prior 10 games, making his first multi-hit effort since April 24 a particularly welcome sight. The steal was Rodriguez's eighth of the season in 10 attempts; however, he's still sitting on just a single home run and five extra-base hits overall in 152 plate appearances, after averaging one XBH every 10.1 trips to the batter's box a season ago. Both Rodriguez's barrel (6.4 percent) and hard-hit (30.9 percent) rates have taken notable dips from their respective 11.9 percent and 38.87 percent figures in 2023, partly explaining the power drought.
