    • Getting break Sunday
Ruiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Ruiz will get a breather after starting the last two games for Washington while going 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Riley Adams will fill in at catcher at bat eighth in place of Ruiz. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:40 am

    • Resting Sunday
Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Advice: After starting at catcher in the last five games, Smith will get a break for the day game as the team finishes out its series in Cincinnati. Austin Barnes will get the start behind home plate and will bat ninth in place of Smith. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:26 am

    • Will Smith scores lone run in loss to Reds
Will Smith went 1-for-4 and scored the Dodgers’ lone run in Saturday’s loss to the Reds.

Advice: The 29-year-old backstop led off the second inning with a single and ultimately scored as Jason Heyward bounced into a double play with the bases loaded. That would be his only hit on the night — and one of just five hits that the Dodgers would muster in the contest. On the season, Smith is now hitting .297/.365/.477 with six homers and 33 RBI. • Keibert Ruiz gets pair of hits, drives in run vs. Astros
Keibert Ruiz picked up a pair of hits and drove in a run in a win over the Mariners on Saturday.

Advice: Ruiz appears to have things going again, and he’s picked up four hits in the first two games of the series. One of his knocks was a double, and he’s upped his line to .186/.218/.292. The 25-year-old has been among the worst offensive options in baseball at his position this year, but he’s too talented to be this bad all year. Rotoworld Saturday, 3:31 pm

    • Belts solo shot Friday
Smith went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in a loss to the Reds on Friday.

Advice: Smith gave the Dodgers a two-run lead with his solo shot in the top of the fifth inning, but the advantage was short-lived, as Cincinnati plated six runs in the bottom of the frame. The All-Star catcher has batted just 3-for-19 over his past six games, though all three of the hits have gone for extra bases, including two that have left the yard. Smith is sporting a solid .298/.368/.482 slash line over 193 plate appearances on the season. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:49 am

    • Pops third homer
Ruiz went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Friday's win over the Mariners.

Advice: The 25-year-old catcher has had a rough season so far, and Friday's long ball off George Kirby snapped a 19-game homer drought for Ruiz. Through 31 contests, he's slashing a feeble .171/.207/.270 with three home runs and 10 RBI, but his bat could be waking up -- over his last six starts, he's batting .316 (6-for-19) with two doubles in addition to Friday's blast. • Keibert Ruiz goes 2-for-3, homers
Keibert Ruiz went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run on Friday in a win over the Mariners.

Advice: The homer was a welcome sight for Ruiz who’s carrying a puny .477 OPS into Memorial Day weekend. Perhaps this starts a power surge as the weather starts to warm in Washington, but he’s been very disappointing to this point in 2024. Rotoworld Friday, 6:08 pm

    • Ruiz returns to lineup Friday
Keibert Ruiz is back in the Nationals’ lineup for Friday’s game against the Mariners.

Advice: Ruiz was on the bench for the Nationals’ last game against the Twins on Wednesday, though he did pinch hit and record two at-bats. He’s back behind the plate and hitting sixth on Friday. Ruiz is slumping badly this season with a .157 average and two home runs in 108 at-bats this year. Rotoworld Friday, 11:54 am

    • Taking seat Thursday
Heim is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: The Rangers are wrapping up their series in Philadelphia with a day game after a night game, so Heim will be given a day of rest. Andrew Knizner will pick up the start at catcher. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:34 am
