      Advice: The Red Sox executed a first-and-third double-steal perfectly in the eighth inning, as the throw to second to catch Rafael Devers stealing was cut off early and returned to home wasn't in time to tag the speedy Duran.     • Abraham Toro hits go-ahead homer in eighth
      Abraham Toro hit a go-ahead homer in the bottom of the eighth Tuesday as the A’s came back to defeat the Rockies 5-4.

      Advice: Toro’s blast came after Seth Brown tied the game with a two-run homer in the seventh. Toro, who was supposed to become a reserve due to the J.D. Davis acquisition at the end of the spring, has won back his job by hitting .294/.344/.459 in 183 plate appearances.       Mason Miller struck out all three batters he faced Tuesday against the Rockies for his first save of the month.

      Advice: Miller earned eight saves from Apr. 9-30, but the A’s hadn’t had any save situations for him since. Given that he also pitched Sunday, it’s possible he’ll now require Wednesday off.       Bradish allowed a run on four hits and a walk while striking out six over five innings Tuesday versus the Cardinals before the game was suspended due to inclement weather in the sixth inning.

      Advice: Bradish likely had more in the tank after throwing 74 pitches (52 strikes), but there's virtually no chance he pitches when play resumes Wednesday. Bradish has looked dialed in through four starts so far, but he's yet to pitch past the fifth inning after having his workload managed following a UCL strain that shelved him for the first month of the season. The right-hander is at a 2.41 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB over 18.2 innings so far.       Woo (2-0) earned the win Tuesday, yielding two hits and no walks with seven strikeouts across six scoreless innings against the Yankees.

      Advice: Woo's been excellent to start 2024, allowing just one run across 15.2 innings after missing the first month of the campaign with elbow inflammation. The 24-year-old still seems to be on a pitch count, as he only threw 77 pitches Tuesday and hasn't exceeded 80 pitches in a start this year. He's projected to make another start Sunday at Washington.       Crochet (5-4) picked up the win Tuesday against Toronto, allowing two hits and one walk with four strikeouts over six scoreless innings.

      Advice: Crochet has tossed 17 consecutive scoreless innings and earned a victory in each of his last four starts. While he fanned fewer than six batters for the first time in five starts, the 25-year-old retired the first 13 batters he faced. Since his ERA peaked at 6.37 on April 24, Crochet has yielded three runs over 28.0 innings to lower his ERA to 3.75 overall. He's lined up to close out the two-start week Sunday against the Orioles.       Kyle Bradish pitched five innings of one-run ball before Tuesday’s game against the Cardinals was suspended.

    • Oneil Cruz sets Statcast record on 3 hits in win
      Oneil Cruz went 3-for-5 with one RBI in a win over the Giants on Tuesday.

      Advice: All three of Cruz’s hits were blasted with a 121.5 mph double, a 120.4 mph single, and a 116.3 mph double. He’s now the first player in the Statcast era to have three hits in one game over 115 mph, and his 121.5 mph double is the hardest-hit ball in MLB action this year, topping the 120.4 mph single he hit earlier in the game today. That’s quite a performance. Cruz is 19-for-64 (.297) in May with four home runs, 10 runs scored, and 11 RBI.       Bryan Woo pitched six scoreless innings while striking out seven to earn the win on Tuesday against the Yankees.

      Advice: Woo allowed just two hits in this one and didn’t walk a batter. The second-year pro has now allowed just one earned run over three starts and 15 2/3 innings this season since being activated from the 15-day injured list on May 10th.
