    • Goes deep again Friday
Ward went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 9-3 win against Texas.

Advice: Ward padded an already large Angels lead with a solo shot in the sixth inning. It was his second homer in his past two contests and gave him an RBI in three straight games. Ward has gone deep nine times through 188 plate appearances this year, putting him on pace so surpass his career-best mark of 23 long balls set two seasons ago. Rotowire.com Today, 10:27 am

    • Tyler O’Neill not in the Red Sox lineup on Thursday
Tyler O’Neill is not in the lineup on Thursday as the Red Sox take on the Rays.

Advice: After getting off to a torrid start, O’Neill has struggled of late. Since his collision with Rafael Devers in the outfield on April 15th which landed O’Neill on the concussion IL, the outfielder has hit just .219 with three home runs and a 41.5 percent strikeout rate. He was hitting .313 with seven home runs and a 21 percent strikeout rate prior. While the early season sample size is small, it’s worth noting that concussion symptoms can linger, as we saw with Anthony Rizzo last year. Perhaps it’s just a cold stretch, but maybe O’Neill is still feeling some effects of the head injury. Rob Refsnyder will be in left field and hitting third on Thursday while Garrett Cooper will DH and bat sixth. Rotoworld Thursday, 11:37 am

    • Gets Thursday off
O'Neill isn't in the Red Sox's lineup for Thursday's game against the Rays, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Advice: O'Neill will get a chance to regroup Thursday after striking out seven times across his last two games. Rob Refsnyder will take his place in left field and bat third. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:36 am

    • Homer, two hits in win
Ward went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's win over St. Louis.

Advice: Ward jumped on a four-seamer from Nick Robertson in the bottom of the seventh and sent it into the stands in left field for a leadoff home run, giving the outfielder his first long ball this month and his eighth overall on the season. Ward also recorded a single in the contest, marking his fourth multi-hit game in May, during which he's now batting .261 with three RBI and six runs scored. Rotowire.com Thursday, 5:34 am

    • Blasts 10th homer
O'Neill went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk during Monday's loss to the Rays.

Advice: O'Neill's first-inning three-run blast provided all the scoring for the Red Sox on Monday. It was the first homer since April 27 for the slumping O'Neill, who hit .333 with nine homers over his first 19 games, but had gone just 7-for-44 (.159) with six walks and 22 strikeouts over the most recent 12 game homer-less stretch prior to Monday. • Tyler O’Neill blasts three-run homer in loss to Rays
Tyler O’Neill slugged a three-run homer on Monday in the Red Sox’ loss to the Rays.

Advice: O’Neill took Rays ace Zach Eflin deep with a gargantuan 426-foot moonshot over the Green Monster at Fenway Park for his 10th round-tripper of the season. It wound up being his lone hit in three at-bats in a low-scoring affair. The 28-year-old slugger has fit in exceptionally well with the Red Sox after signing a one-year pact in the offseason and appears to be on the way to eclipsing the 30-homer plateau for the first time since the 2021 campaign, if he can stay on the field. • Lands on IL with fractured thumb
The Reds placed Friedl on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a fractured left thumb.

Advice: Friedl left Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Giants after being hit by a pitch in the top of the first inning. The injury was initially reported as a contusion, but further tests revealed fractures in his left thumb. Friedl started the season on the IL with a fractured right wrist, and he appeared in just six major-league games after being activated May 7. In Friedl's absence, Will Benson could return to the leadoff spot against righties. The Reds recalled outfielder Jacob Hurtubise from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. • Reds place Friedl on I.L. with thumb fracture
Reds placed OF TJ Friedl on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured left thumb.

Advice: The report yesterday was that X-rays were negative on Friedl’s thumb after he was hit by a pitch, but it seems that wasn’t the case. Friedl was injured in his sixth game since returning from a sprained wrist. The Reds figure to go back to Will Benson in center, but they might want to give the newly recalled Jacob Hurtubise a shot. • Rehab games could come this week
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Monday that Robert (hip) could begin playing in games with the team's rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate later this week, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Advice: The White Sox are aiming for Robert to be able to run at 90 percent effort in the coming days. If that happens, Robert is expected to be cleared for Complex League games. The 26-year-old presumably would eventually move up to a higher-level affiliate to continue his rehab. Robert has been out since early April with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain but should return from the 10-day injured list before the end of the month if all goes well. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:47 pm
