      Merrill went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 10-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: This was Merrill's first steal since May 14. Over the 20 contests between thefts, he hit a meager .224 (15-for-67) with no walks and just one extra-base hit. The 21-year-old is still at a respectable .268/.303/.344 slash line with three home runs, 22 RBI, 24 runs scored and eight steals over 63 contests this year. Merrill has been benched against some left-handed pitchers recently, but he should have no trouble maintaining a majority of the playing time in center field over Jose Azocar.       Campusano went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and one run scored in Friday's 10-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Campusano entered Friday just 1-for-29 with four walks and five strikeouts over his previous 12 contests. He finally made some good contact, which included an RBI single in the eighth inning as well as a double, which was his first extra-base hit since May 19. The catcher's slump left a mark on his season-long numbers -- he's now at a .234/.284/.359 slash line with four home runs, 27 RBI, 23 runs scored, 11 doubles and no stolen bases over 57 games.       Advice: Crochet gave up a pair of runs in the third inning but only one was earned due to his own throwing error. He's produced quality starts in four straight appearances and six of his last seven. Crochet generated 17 whiffs and racked up double-digit strikeouts for the fourth time this season. Since April 29, he's produced a ridiculous 1.37 ERA with a 63:9 K:BB in eight starts. Crochet will carry a 3.33 ERA into his next start, which is expected to be in Seattle next week.       Garrett Crochet yielded two runs — one earned — and struck out 10 in six innings as the White Sox defeated the Red Sox 7-2 to snap a 14-game losing streak.

      Advice: The White Sox’s previous win also, not coincidentally, came in a Crochet start on May 21. He has six of the White Sox’s 16 victories on the year.     • Dealing with oblique tightness
      Suzuki said after Friday's game versus the Reds that he asked to be removed in the sixth inning after feeling tightness in his oblique, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

      Advice: Suzuki was hit in the side by a throw while stealing a base in the first inning, and he was checked on by trainers after appearing uncomfortable at the plate in the fifth frame. He later was replaced in right field by Mike Tauchman -- a precautionary move given Suzuki's recent history with oblique injuries.       Advice: Suzuki has dealt with oblique strains in the past and missed time in 2024 due to one, so the Cubs decided to be as careful as possible when he felt it tighten after being hit in the side.       Advice: Scott entered a tie game in the eighth inning and forced a double play to escape the first-and-third jam he inherited. He then struck out two in the ninth inning before Miami walked it off in the bottom of the frame. After some early season struggles, Scott has now gone 18 straight innings without allowing an earned run. His season ERA has fallen to 1.40 with a 27:19 K:BB through 25.2 innings.
