    • Ranger Suárez allows just one run against Orioles
Ranger Suárez scattered six hits across 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision on Friday against the Orioles. He struck out six, walked two, and allowed one earned run.

Advice: Relative to the rest of his season, this was a difficult start for Suárez and he still allowed just one run against one of the best offenses in baseball. He kept the ball down, mixed all five of his pitches, and hit his spots when he needed to. Especially tough on lefties, he made Gunnar Henderson look as frustrated as he’s been all season with two nasty punch outs. Suárez’s Cy Young campaign will march on next week against the Padres. • Edwin Díaz finally gets a save
Edwin Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Mets to earn the save on Friday against the Padres. He struck out two and stranded a runner on third base.

Advice: Díaz and the Mets really needed this one. You could hear a pin drop in Citi Field when Jurickson Profar led off the inning with a single, but Díaz was able to work around it for his first save in 39 days. He also hit a true 100 MPH for the first time this season as he looks to get back into a groove as the Mets’ closer. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:14 pm

    • Notches save Friday
Iglesias recorded one out to earn a save over the Rays on Friday.

Advice: Iglesias came into the game with two runners on base and two outs. He quickly finished the 7-3 win with just three pitches. He's now converted 10 straight saves and is 18 for 20 in save chances this season. Iglesias is sporting a 2.10 ERA with a 17:5 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:11 pm
    • Raisel Iglesias grabs 18th save
Raisel Iglesias got one out on three pitches to earn the save on Friday night in the Braves’ win over the Rays.

Advice: Iglesias was called upon after Dylan Lee got into trouble in the ninth inning and earned the save after throwing just three pitches. It’s been a bizarre season for Iglesias with a 2.10 ERA and just a 16.9 K%. Beware of possible regression coming. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:05 pm
    • Getting breather Friday
Toro is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins.

Advice: Toro will be out of the Athletics' lineup for the first time since April 28, getting a well-deserved day off Friday. J.D. Davis will bat seventh and play third base while Max Schuemann leads off. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:00 pm

    • Rehab assignment next week
Abreu (ankle) is likely to begin a rehab assignment next week, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Abreu has been upping his workouts this week and is days away from testing out his right ankle in game action. He's less than two weeks removed from suffered his ankle sprain, so Abreu shouldn't need many rehab at-bats before rejoining the Red Sox' roster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:36 pm

    • Nabs win in return
Diaz (2-1) struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Thursday to pick up the win over the Marlins.

Advice: The right-hander looked good in his first appearance since May 25, topping out at 99.6 mph with his fastball. Diaz had been on the IL with a shoulder impingement before being activated Thursday, but he hadn't been his usual dominant self even before getting shut down -- so far in 2024 he has a 16.7 percent whiff rate, one of the lowest marks of his career and a massive drop from the 25.2 percent rate he delivered last year. While his results were impressive Thursday, Diaz managed only two swinging strikes on 15 pitches, suggesting that he may not be fully back in form yet. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:49 am

    • Records quality start in victory
Ryan (5-5) earned the win over Oakland on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out five batters over seven innings.

Advice: Ryan surrendered a two-run homer to Tyler Soderstrom in the second inning, but those were the only runs the A's managed against the righty hurler. Ryan finished with a stat line very similar to his previous outing, when he gave up two runs on three hits over seven frames versus Pittsburgh, though that performance came in a losing effort. The 28-year-old pitcher has four quality starts over his past five appearances and has posted a 2.73 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB across 33 frames during that span. • Tosses six effective frames
Severino allowed one run on seven hits and three walks while striking out two batters over six innings in a no-decision versus Miami on Thursday.

Advice: Severino recorded only one 1-2-3 inning and punched out a season-low two batters, but he held the Marlins scoreless until Jake Burger belted a solo homer in the sixth frame. It was the third time in his past four outings that the veteran hurler has yielded exactly one run, and he has a 2.39 ERA and 1.10 WHIP despite a mediocre 16:7 K:BB over 26.1 innings during that span. Severino is on pace for a career-worst 6.9 K/9, but he's been solid otherwise in his first season as a Met, posting a 3.12 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 78 frames. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:15 am
