    Diaz (calf) has resumed taking batting practice but is not yet running the bases, MLB.com reports.

    Advice: The veteran began a light running program in mid-April, but as this latest report indicates, he hasn't progressed to carrying it out fully just yet. The fact Diaz is back to swinging a bat is certainly a positive, however, but he appears to be at least a month away from his season debut given the expected length of the rehab assignment he'll require.     Peraza (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Tuesday.

    Advice: Peraza is finally ready to test things out in a game setting after working his way back from a right shoulder strain which he initially suffered back in late February. Given how much time he's missed, he will presumably require more than a handful of rehab games.     Neto went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to Pittsburgh.

    Advice: Batting out of the No. 9 slot in the order, Neto produced the Angels' only run of the game with his sixth-inning solo shot to center field. It was the third homer of the campaign for the shortstop, all of which have come over his past 11 games.     Duran started in left field and went 0-for-2 in Monday's 4-2 win over Oakland.

    Advice: Duran made his first outfield start of 2024, coming against lefty Alex Wood. He was eventually pinch hit for by Evan Carter when a right-handed reliever entered the game. Duran, who started 32 games in the outfield last season, will be part of the crew that replaces the injured Wyatt Langford (hamstring), who is expected to miss three-to-four weeks. Duran is the lone righty-hitting outfielder in that replacement mix, joining lefties Carter and Travis Jankowski. Of the trio, Carter is expected to get the bulk of the starts. Duran wielded a capable backup bat in 2023, posting 14 home runs and a .767 OPS, but he's off to less enticing start this year (.226/.293/.264). Rotowire.com Today, 3:44 am

  • Corey Seager’s three-run homer leads Rangers
    Corey Seager hit a three-run homer in the eighth to lead the Rangers past the A’s 4-2 on Monday.

    Advice: The Rangers were still scoreless until Seager took Lucas Erceg deep in the eighth. They then added an insurance run in the ninth. The homer was Seager’s third in 33 games this season.   • Turns tide with three-run homer
    Seager went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Monday in a 4-2 victory against Oakland.

    Advice: Texas was down 2-0 heading into the eighth frame before Seager turned the team's fortunes around with a two-out, three-run blast to center field. It was a much-needed big moment for the star shortstop, as he came into the contest batting just .190 in May and .228 overall on the season. After slugging 33 homers and driving in 96 runs last year, Seager has just three homers and 13 RBI through 33 games in 2024.     Freeman went 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in Monday's 2-1 win over the Tigers.

    Advice: Freeman opened May 1-for-12 across four contests, and his last multi-hit effort before Monday was April 19. The 24-year-old is slashing just .204/.301/.347 this season while adding three home runs, four steals, 12 RBI, 17 runs scored and five doubles across 113 plate appearances. With Steven Kwan (hamstring) landing on the injured list Monday, Freeman should have more job security in center field while Estevan Florial, Ramon Laureano and Will Brennan combine to fill the corner outfield spots.   • Maikel Garcia drives in two in win against MIL
    Maikel Garcia went 1-for-2 with a two-run RBI single to help lift the Royals to a 3-2 win versus the Brewers on Monday.

    Advice: It wasn’t pretty, but it got the job done. Garcia got great contact on a sinker off Elvis Peguero in the sixth inning that got in between shortstop and second base. According to Statcast, the hit probability was just 41%, but with an exit velocity of 106.5 MPH, Garcia definitely earned the hit.     Carlos Correa doubled twice with an RBI in a win over the Mariners on Monday.
