• Recalled from Triple-A
The Pirates recalled Peguero from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Peguero was a somewhat surprising exclusion from the Pirates' Opening Day roster and wound up spending a couple months at Indianapolis before getting another shot with the big club. He's slashed .272/.341/.387 this year with Indianapolis, hitting two home runs and stealing five bases. Peguero will back up at both middle infield spots. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago

  • Swipes 13th bag
Rengifo went 1-for-3 with a run and a stolen base in a 2-1 victory versus the Padres on Monday.

Advice: Offense in the contest was scarce, so Rengifo's role in producing the Angels' first run was especially valuable. He singled with one out in the fourth inning and stole second base before eventually crossing the plate on a Willie Calhoun single. Rengifo missed some time in May due to an illness, but he hasn't slowed down since returning, slashing .313/.353/.484 with two homers, six RBI, 10 runs and four stolen bases in 16 contests. The infielder leads the team and is tied for 12th in the majors with 13 thefts on the campaign. Rotowire.com 57 minutes ago

  • Marcano banned for violating betting policy
Tucupita Marcano has been banned from baseball for life for violating Major League Baseball’s betting policy.

Advice: This was first reported by Lindsay Adler and Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal on Monday, and now it’s official. The investigation by MLB found that Marcano bet more than $150,000 on baseball, with $87,319 of that on bets related to baseball. The league did determine the bets didn’t compromise the outcomes of any games, but that won’t change Marcano’s status. Rotoworld Today, 7:33 am

  • Lifetime ban for sports betting
Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that Marcano has been issued a lifetime ban for violating the league's gambling policy, Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports.

Advice: MLB's investigation found that Marcano bet more than $150,000 on baseball, with $87,319 being in MLB-related wagers. Marcano didn't play in any of the games he bet on, and the league has determined the outcomes of the games in which he placed bets weren't compromised in any way. The 24-year-old had been on the Padres' 10-day injured list while completing a recovery from ACL surgery. Rotowire.com Today, 7:24 am

  • Swipes ninth bag
Lindor went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in Monday's win over the Nationals.

Advice: Hitting leadoff against Washington lefty MacKenzie Gore, Lindor got right back up after seeing an 11-game hitting streak snapped Sunday. The veteran shortstop has swiped three bags in the last five contests, giving him nine steals on the season, and over his last 15 games he's slashing .339/.397/.516 with five doubles, two homers, seven runs and eight RBI as he puts a sluggish start to the season behind him. • Joining Triple-A roster soon
Lawlar (thumb) is expected to be activated from Triple-A Reno's 60-day injured list soon, Jesse Borek of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Lawlar is working his way back from surgery to repair a ruptured UCL tendon in his right thumb. He's played three rehab games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, going 1-for-7 with a 1:4 K:BB in 11 plate appearances. The 21-year-old will report to Reno in short order with the hope of playing his way back onto the major-league roster. Lawlar went just 4-for-31 during his brief time with the Diamondbacks last season but remains one of the elite prospects in baseball. Geraldo Perdomo (knee) should return from the 10-day injured list before Lawlar gets a look with Arizona, but Lawlar is the club's long-term answer at shortstop once the team decides he's ready to take the reins. • Starts at 1B again
Duran started at first base and went 1-for-4 with a double in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Duran was in the starting lineup at first base for a third straight game -- all against lefties -- as it appears primary starter Nathaniel Lowe is losing work against southpaws. Duran is batting .235/.304/.275 against lefties this season, which is lower than Lowe's line of .250/.327/.292, suggesting the platoon may not be a long-term solution. Rotowire.com Today, 5:27 am

  • Moving rehab to Triple-A
Perdomo (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno on Wednesday, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Perdomo was cleared for at-bats in the Arizona Complex League over the weekend, and the club has since determined that he's ready to face stronger competition. He'll likely play at least a few games at Triple-A before being activated from the 10-day injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:31 pm
