• Struggles early against Texas
Abbott (1-3) was tagged with the loss after he pitched 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out seven in Sunday's 4-3 defeat to the Rangers.

Advice: Abbott struggled early, surrendering a pair of two-run home runs in the first inning, including an inside-the-park homer to Wyatt Langford, which gave the Rangers a 4-0 lead. The left-hander was able to settle down after the difficult first frame, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings to end his outing. Abbott entered Sunday having given up two or fewer runs in each of his five starts in 2024, but he'll now carry a 3.27 ERA into his next projected start Saturday at home versus the Orioles. • Garrett Whitlock (oblique) not throwing off mound
Red Sox’ manager Alex Cora told reporters on Sunday that Garrett Whitlock (oblique) has yet to be cleared to throw off of a mound.

Advice: Cora noted that Whitlock is still feeling his oblique issue a bit, and while he has been playing catch, he’s not quite ready for a throwing progression. There remains no clear timetable for his return to the Red Sox’ rotation. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

  • Goes deep in win
Garcia went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Garcia opened up the scoring in Sunday's contest, taking Andrew Abbott deep for a two-run shot with two outs in the bottom of the first inning, driving in teammate Nathaniel Lowe in the process. The long-ball was his eighth of the season and third in his last six contests. The outfielder is now batting .291 with eight homers, 25 RBI, 19 runs scored and four stolen bases over 103 at-bats in 28 games this season. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago

  • Bello expected back “sooner rather than later”
Red Sox’ skipper Alex Cora told reporters on Sunday that Brayan Bello (lat) is making great progress in his recovery and is expected back “sooner rather than later”.

Advice: That certainly qualifies as an encouraging update for the injured right-hander. It’s unclear if Bello will require a minor league rehab start or not before rejoining the Red Sox rotation, but it’s sounding like he could be ready to be activated from the injured list when first eligible, or shortly after. • Kyle Finnegan locks down 9th save of season
Kyle Finnegan closed down the Nationals’ 12-9 win over the Marlins on Sunday.

Advice: It never seems to come easy for Finnegan, who also walked a hitter on Sunday and threw just 56 percent of his pitches for strikes. However, the Marlins weren’t able to mount much of a challenge and he now has a 2.19 ERA to go along with nine saves. Who knows how long it will last, but it’s hard to argue with the current production. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago
  • Remains spotless, grabs fifth save
Yates earned a save after he pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit and a walk while striking out a batter in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Yates was called upon to protect the team's 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth inning, working around a pair of baserunners to secure his fifth save of the season. The right-hander has now gone 5-for-5 in save opportunities this season while he has pitched 12 scoreless frames over his first 11 appearances in 2024. On top of the spotless ERA, Yates also owns a sparkling 0.50 WHIP with a 10.50 K/9 and he appears to be locked in as the Rangers' closer moving forward. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago

  • Senzel homers twice in win over Marlins
Nick Senzel went 2-for-6 with two home runs and five RBI in a win over the Marlins on Sunday.

Advice: Those were Senzel’s first two home runs of the season, but both were well-struck, traveling over 400 feet each time. The 28-year-old is not known for having big-time power and is slashing just .222/.263/.639 on the season with nine RBI, so this was likely just a one-off great day. However, he is playing most days for the Nationals and could be on the radar in the deepest formats. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago

  • Young has three hits, two SB in win over Miami
Jacob Young with 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs scored, and two steals in a win over the Marlins on Sunday.

Advice: Young now has 10 steals and a .333/.375/.400 slash line since becoming the regular center fielder. He hits 9th in the lineup and doesn’t bring much power to the table, so it’s hard to get overly excited, but he’s a great source of speed while he’s hitting like this. If you need steals, he could be a sneaky waiver add. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

  • Mark Vientos hits walkoff homer in 11th
Mark Vientos walked it off with a two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th as the Mets beat the Cardinals 4-2 on Sunday.

Advice: Harrison Bader had previously tied the game with a single. Vientos entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Brett Baty against lefty Matthew Liberatore in the ninth and singled. He then remained in to play third base and, surprisingly, got another crack at Liberatore in the 11th. With Vientos going 3-for-4 so far in what was supposed to be a brief stay with the Mets, one wonders if the Mets might send Baty down and give Vientos a real chance at the third. It’d be a downgrade defensively, but the Mets would have Joey Wendle available to take over late in games. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago
