• Ragans allows five runs in loss Saturday
Cole Ragans allowed five runs in 4 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Guardians on Saturday.

Advice: Ragans gave up six hits, walked one and struck out six. This start broke a streak of five consecutive quality starts for Ragans. He has a 3.33 ERA and 3.11 xFIP on the year. The 26-year-old left-hander is set to face the Rockies on the road next week.

  • Michael King bounces back with six strong in win
Michael King held the Red Sox to one run over six innings with six strikeouts while picking up a win Saturday.

Advice: King didn’t have to be at his best with Tanner Houck faltering, but he was pretty close to it, anyway. The right-hander gave up a solo homer to Jarren Duran, and that was it in terms of scoring blemishes. King has been fairly up-and-down in his first year with the Padres, but there have been enough quality starts like this one to keep the optimism going. He’s scheduled to face the Diamondbacks next weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:50 pm
  • Tanner Scott locks down 12th save vs. Phillies
Tanner Scott tossed a clean ninth inning with two strikeouts to earn the save against the Phillies on Saturday.

Advice: Scott was summoned in the ninth inning to close out the game with a one-run lead. He shut the door quickly on the Phillies, striking out two batters in a perfect frame for his 12th save of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:49 pm
  • Hector Neris works around jam to pick up save
Hector Neris allowed two baserunners, but was able to fire a scoreless inning while picking up a save against the Brewers on Saturday.

Advice: The Hector Neris experience is often successful, but it’s always an experience. The right-hander allowed the winning run to reach the plate after giving up a hit and a walk, but he was able to strike out pinch-hitter Tyler Black and Brice Turang to keep the runners off the board and pick up his 11th save of 2024. • Sewald picks up 11th save against Athletics
Paul Sewald tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Athletics on Saturday.

Advice: Sewald’s save was his 11th of the season. He retired the Athletics in order in the ninth inning while recording one strikeout. Sewald hasn’t been scored on in his last 16 appearances this year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:32 pm

  • Harris gives up 10 hits in loss to Diamondbacks
Hogan Harris allowed three runs in 3 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

Advice: Harris gave up 10 hits, walked one and struck out three. He’s fortunate to have a 3.18 ERA given his xFIP is 4.65. Harris is far off the fantasy radar. The 27-year-old left-hander is set to face the Orioles at home next week.

  • Angels recall Andrew Wantz from Triple-A
Angels recalled RHP Andrew Wantz from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: With Zach Plesac heading back to Triple-A on Saturday, Wantz will get an opportunity to add a fresh arm to the Halos’ bullpen for the time being. The 28-year-old hurler had registered a 6.17 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and a 34/15 K/BB ratio over 23 1/3 innings in seven appearances (six starts) at Triple-A. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:05 pm

  • Promoted to majors
The Angels recalled Wantz from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

Advice: Wantz has spent the entire season in Triple-A, though he missed nearly two months due to a right forearm injury. Since returning from the IL, he's allowed nine runs (eight earned) in just six innings over three appearances. Despite his poor performance, he'll join the Halos as a replacement for Zach Plesac, who was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Six of Wantz's seven appearances in the minors this year have been as a starter, though he'll likely be used as a reliever while in Los Angeles. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:55 pm

  • Carson Spiers solid in win over Cardinals
Carson Spiers allowed two runs -- one earned -- with four strikeouts over six innings in a win over the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Spiers put together a solid start against the Cardinals on Saturday to earn his second win of the season. A double and a single to start the third inning would bring an unearned run in to score after a dropped foul pop error. Paul Goldschmidt took Spiers deep for a solo shot in the sixth for the second run before Spiers closed out the sixth inning for a quality start. He struck out four. The 26-year-old right-hander has been excellent for Cincinnati, posting a 3.13 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and a 29/7 K/BB ratio across 37 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Tigers at home on Friday.
