  • Bryan Abreu picks up first save of 2024
    Bryan Abreu protected a three-run lead against the Astros for his first save Friday.

    Advice: Josh Hader, Ryan Pressly and Abreu all worked the previous two days, but the youngest of the trio was the only one available tonight, apparently. Abreu got the job done and finally picked up his first save in the process. He leads the AL with 38 appearances this season, and his ERA is down to 2.58 after a rough start. Still. because of the lack of saves, he’ll make less than a quarter of what he’s worth in arbitration again next year. Rotoworld Today, 12:08 am
     
  • Takes second loss
    Schreiber (3-2) allowed three runs on three hits over one-third of an inning to take the loss versus the Rangers on Friday.

    Advice: Schreiber was on the hook for three of the five runs the Rangers scored in the sixth inning. After opening June with four scoreless innings, Schreiber's struggles have returned -- he's given up eight runs (six earned) over his last four appearances, taking two blown saves in that span. Friday's outing pushed his ERA up to 4.15 with a 1.48 WHIP and 20:11 K:BB over 30.1 innings.   • Grabs five-out save
    De Los Santos allowed a hit and struck out two over 1.2 scoreless innings to earn the save in Friday's 9-5 win over the Brewers.

    Advice: Not often part of the high-leverage mix, De Los Santos got a chance to protect a three-run lead in the eighth inning. He delivered and also pitched the ninth to earn his first save since 2022, when he was with the Guardians. The right-hander has put together an okay season with a 3.41 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 38:9 K:BB over 31.2 innings, and he's added seven holds.   • Alexiz Díaz converts 11th straight save chanceg
    Alexis Díaz worked a scoreless ninth for his 17th save Friday against the Red Sox.

    Advice: Díaz has converted 10 straight save chances, even though he’s had a few hiccups during the run. His 5.08 ERA and 29/19 K/BB ratio in 28 1/3 innings still don’t inspire a ton of confidence, but things are certainly looking up from a few weeks ago. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:41 pm
     
  • Kutter Crawford gives up three homers in loss
    Kutter Crawford surrendered five runs — three earned — in 6 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Reds.

    Advice: Crawford surrendered three homers tonight, bringing his total allowed to seven in his last three starts. He’s given up at least one in seven straight outings.   • Converts 14th save
    Estevez struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Dodgers.

    Advice: Estevez has not put a runner on base over his last eight innings, striking out eight and earning seven saves and a win in that span. A groundout moved the initial runner to third base in the 10th inning, but Estevez struck out the next two batters to protect the one-run lead. He's now 14-for-17 in save chances with a 3.38 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 25:3 K:BB over 24 innings. This is arguably the best Estevez has ever looked in the majors, which will boost his trade value, though he's unlikely to be a primary closer on a different team if a deal comes to fruition.     Duran (3-3) allowed two runs on two hits and struck out one over one inning, taking the loss and a blown save versus the Athletics on Friday.

    Advice: Duran served up a two-run home run to Shea Langeliers after being called upon to pitch in a high-leverage situation in the eighth inning. This was Duran's first blown save of the year -- he's converted 11 saves and added four holds over 24 appearances. The closer has a 3.91 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB through 23 innings overall.     Paddack allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Friday.

    Advice: Paddack again struggled against the Athletics, though it wasn't as bad as his last start, in which he allowed five runs over 2.1 innings. The right-hander has a poor 5.29 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 70:18 K:BB over 78.1 innings through 15 starts this season.
