    Alzolay (forearm) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

    Advice: Alzolay appears to have responded well to what was his first time throwing off a mound since he was shelved with a flexor strain in mid-May. Before coming off the 60-day injured list, Alzolay will need to make multiple rehab appearances in the minors, and it's unclear when he might be ready to begin an assignment.     Bednar (oblique) didn't allow a baserunner and struck out one in a scoreless inning of work in a rehab appearance Tuesday with Double-A Altoona.

    Julian Merryweather made his first rehab appearance for Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday and struck out two in a perfect inning.

    Peralta was removed from Tuesday's game against the Mariners due to an apparent groin injury, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Peralta winced and grabbed at his groin immediately after making a pitch in the ninth inning of Tuesday's contest, resulting in him exiting alongside a trainer. He'll presumably undergo imaging in the Padres' clubhouse to determine the nature/severity of his injury, and the team should provide an update shortly after the game.     Wandy Peralta left Tuesday’s game in the ninth inning with an apparent groin injury.

    Advice: Bednar struck out one and needed just 17 pitches (12 strikes) to get through a scoreless frame in his first minor league rehab outing.     Criswell could be recalled from Triple-A Worcester to start Friday against the Athletics, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

    Advice: Josh Winckowski is being shifted to the bullpen, creating an opening.
