  • Finnegan picks up 20th save Sunday
    Kyle Finnegan threw a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Marlins on Sunday.



    Advice: The save was Finnegan’s 20th of the season. He’s only blown two save opportunities so far this season and lowered his ERA to 1.78. Finnegan has come out of nowhere to be one of the best closers in fantasy this year.

  • Josh Fleming starting Sunday against Rockies
    Josh Fleming is starting Sunday’s game against the Rockies.

    Advice: Fleming was recalled from Triple-A Friday, and after going unused in the first two games, he’ll get the nod against Dakota Hudson and the Rockies. The 28-year-old has not been effective thus far in 2024 with a 5.68 ERA and 1.68 WHIP over 19 innings, and he’s not a recommended streamer for this chance. Rotoworld Today, 9:15 am

  • Drawing start Sunday
    Fleming is slated to start Sunday's game against the Rockies at Coors Field, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

    Advice: Fleming was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday but went unused out of the bullpen for the first two games of the Pirates' series in Colorado. He'll step into the rotation for the series finale Sunday as Pittsburgh looks to give each of their other starters an additional day of rest, but Fleming will likely head to the bullpen or return to Triple-A immediately after the start. Fleming had worked as a multi-inning reliever for Indianapolis prior to his call-up, covering at least two frames in each of his last four appearances while pitching to a 5.68 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in seven outings overall.     Ronel Blanco will start Sunday’s game against the Tigers.

    Advice: There was talk that Blanco would get some extra rest before making his next outing, but the right-hander will work on regular rest for the finale against Detroit.     Blanco will start Sunday's game against the Tigers, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Heading into the weekend, Blanco wasn't expected to make a start against the Tigers, but he ended up getting pushed up in the pitching schedule after Justin Verlander had his turn in the rotation skipped due to a neck injury. As a result of the change in the pitching schedule, Blanco no longer lines up for two starts during the upcoming week.   • Trevor Megill snags 12th save
    Trevor Megill closed out a 3-1 win over the Reds for his 12th save of the season.

    Advice: It wasn’t a flawless inning for Megill, who did allow a walk, a hit, and a run; however, he got the job done. He now has a 2.25 ERA on the season and has been a steadying presence for the Brewers at the end of games. Even though he will lose his job as closer when Devin Williams returns, he’ll remain a valuable reliever for the Brewers and needs to simply be held in fantasy leagues because you’re unlikely to get much trying to trade him away when everybody knows his time accruing saves is coming to a close within the month.   • Secures save Saturday
    Megill notched a save against the Reds on Saturday, allowing one run on one hit and one walk in one inning.

    Advice: A trio of Milwaukee pitchers combined to shut out Cincinnati over eight innings before the ball was handed to Megill for the ninth. The right-hander didn't make things easy, issuing a walk and allowing a run-scoring double before getting his first out, but he was ultimately able to slam the door for the save. Megill has been great in his first venture as a closer this season, going 12-for-13 in save tries while posting a 2.25 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB over 20 innings. He appears to have a firm grasp on ninth-inning duties for the Brewers, at least until Devin Williams (back) is able to return from the injured list, potentially in the latter half of July.     Martin (personal) will begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

    The Pirates selected Fleming to the active roster Friday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

    Advice: Fleming will rejoin the Pirates' bullpen after being DFA'd on May 14. He'll take the place of Hunter Stratton (triceps), who was placed on the 15-day IL, while Niko Goodrum was designated for assignment to make room for Fleming on the 40-man roster.
