      Cardinals’ manager Oli Marmol told reporters on Friday that Lars Nootbaar is dealing with a moderate oblique strain and is expected to miss several weeks.

      Advice: It won’t be a minimum stint on the injured list for the 26-year-old outfielder this time around. It sounds like he’s looking at an extended absence and will then require a minor league rehab assignment before he’s able to return to the Cardinals’ outfield.       Advice: Nootbaar suffered the injury on a check swing during Wednesday's win over the Reds. It's the outfielder's second stint on the IL this season, as he previously missed time with two fractured ribs. The timing is poor, as Nootbaar was slashing .313/.418/.552 with four home runs over his last 79 plate appearances.       Advice: It’s most likely just a typical rest day for Chourio. The rookie’s overall slash line is not impressive, but there are some signs of life. His seven steals and five home runs have been a help to fantasy managers and he cut his strikeout rate from 32 percent in April to just 19 percent in May.       Alvarez went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Mariners.

      Advice: Alvarez recorded a base hit in the top of the fourth before coming around to score Houston's only run of the contest on an RBI single from Jake Meyers. The outfielder would add another single in his next at-bat, giving him back-to-back multi-hit games, while also going on to swipe a bag for the second game in a row.       Advice: Marmol noted that Nootbaar felt something in his side on a swing, and they wanted to take a cautious approach, so they pulled him from the game and put in Dylan Carlson. Anticipate that he’ll get some imaging done to determine the severity of the injury and a trip to the injured list isn’t out of the question just yet.       Advice: Nootbaar grimaced on a check swing during a plate appearance in the seventh inning. He initially remained in the game after reaching on an infield single before eventually being pulled prior to the bottom of the eighth inning.
