      The Dodgers reinstated Phillips (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list Friday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

      Advice: Phillips was forced onto the injured list May 5 after suffering a right hamstring strain. He's since thrown 1.2 innings of shutout ball while striking out three batters and walking none during a rehab assignment with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. The 29-year-old right-hander should immediately reclaim his spot as the Dodgers' closer, a role he thrived in prior to getting injured.       Dodgers activated RHP Evan Phillips from the 15-day injured list.

      Advice: The 29-year-old closer finally returns to the Dodgers’ bullpen after landing on the injured list with a hamstring strain. While Daniel Hudson and Blake Treinen did a nice job in his absence, expect Phillips to jump right into the team’s ninth-inning role.       Assad didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Reds, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Both of the runs charged to Assad came in the fourth inning when the Reds strung together three straight singles. Still, it was a positive effort for Assad overall after he'd given up seven runs (six earned) over 9.2 innings in his previous two outings, though he now has seven or more strikeouts in three of his last four starts. Overall, the 26-year-old right-hander is 4-1 with a 2.27 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 61:26 K:BB through 63.1 innings this season.       Javier Assad wasn’t involved in the decision after allowing two runs over 5 2/3 innings Friday against the Reds.

      Advice: Assad struck out seven and kept the ball in the yard today after allowing two homers in each of his previous two starts. He left with a one-run lead in the sixth, but that disappeared in the seventh. He’ll face the Reds again in his next start, though it will be in Cincinnati this time.     • Zach Eflin throws bullpen session Thursday
      Zach Eflin (back) threw a bullpen session on Thursday.

      Advice: Eflin threw 26 pitches before Thursday’s series finale against the Athletics. He has another bullpen session scheduled for this Sunday. If all goes well, Eflin could return to the Rays rotation as early as next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:14 am

      Finnegan picked up the save in a win over Atlanta on Thursday, pitching a scoreless ninth inning while striking out one and issuing a walk.

      Advice: Finnegan entered the game with a two-run lead in the ninth and issued a leadoff walk to Ozzie Albies to put himself in an early jam. However, the right-handed reliever was able to retire the next three batters in succession to notch his 15th save of the season. Finnegan now has three scoreless appearances since blowing the save against the Phillies on May 18, posting a 5:1 K:BB over that stretch.       Gilbert (3-3) took the loss against Houston on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out five batters over six innings.

      Advice: Gilbert began his outing with three scoreless frames, but homers by Alex Bregman and Victor Caratini plated three runs for the Astros across the fourth and fifth innings. Gilbert still had a chance to extend his three-game quality-start streak, but that was extinguished when he gave up another run in the sixth.       Kyle Finnegan fired a scoreless ninth inning to pick up a save Thursday versus Atlanta.

      Advice: That’s already the 15th save for Finnegan, who is currently on-pace to procure over 40 of them in 2024. Impressive regardless, but especially when you see the Nationals have only won 26 games. The 32-year-old right-hander also has a 1.64 ERA, so it’s fair to say he’s pitched well in those chances.       Logan Gilbert allowed four runs over six innings on Thursday in a loss to the Astros.

      Advice: Gilbert was burned by the long ball in this one as homers by Alex Bregman and Victor Caratini in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, accounted for nearly all of the damage against him. He finished with five strikeouts and only issued one walk. It was just the third time in 12 starts this season that he’s surrendered four earned runs or more. He’ll carry a strong 3.29 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 71/20 K/BB ratio across 76 2/3 innings (12 starts) into a tasty road matchup on Wednesday against the Athletics. Rotoworld Thursday, 3:40 pm
