    • Good to go Friday
Arenado (hand) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Friday against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: The 33-year-old had X-rays come back negative on his right hand after being hit by a pitch Thursday, and he's apparently fine given he's back in the lineup a day later. Arenado is 8-for-20 with two doubles and two RBI in his past five games, and he has a .273/.340/.386 slash line through 12 contests in June. Rotowire.com Today, 8:33 am

    • Struggles continue Thursday
Riley went 0-for-5 with a strikeout in Thursday's win over the Orioles.

Advice: The third baseman's been dropped down to fifth in the order, even with lefty-hander Cole Irvin on the mound for Baltimore on Thursday, but it hasn't helped wake up Riley's bat. His last homer came May 3, and in 16 games since he returned from an intercostal strain he's slashing just .161/.212/.194 with two RBI and a 4:17 BB:K. Riley's track record says he will heat up at some point this summer, and his Statcast profile suggests there's a great deal of bad luck contributing to his numbers this season -- he's in the 91st percentile in max exit velocity, 90th percentile in bat speed and 82nd percentile in hard-hit rate. • Nabs 10th save
Yates picked up the save over the Dodgers on Thursday, allowing one walk over a scoreless ninth inning while striking out three.

Advice: Yates had a bit of a hard time getting through the ninth after entering the contest with a two-run lead, surrendering a leadoff walk to Teoscar Hernandez on five pitches, who would later advance to second on a called balk. However, the veteran reliever made short work of the next three batters, getting all three to go down swinging as he secured his 10th save in as many chances. Yates has been solid in the closer role for Texas thus far and now holds a 1.11 ERA on the campaign. He's also recorded multiple strikeouts in three of his last four appearances and is yet to surrender a home run on the season. Rotowire.com Today, 7:04 am

    • Tosses six effective frames
Severino allowed one run on seven hits and three walks while striking out two batters over six innings in a no-decision versus Miami on Thursday.

Advice: Severino recorded only one 1-2-3 inning and punched out a season-low two batters, but he held the Marlins scoreless until Jake Burger belted a solo homer in the sixth frame. It was the third time in his past four outings that the veteran hurler has yielded exactly one run, and he has a 2.39 ERA and 1.10 WHIP despite a mediocre 16:7 K:BB over 26.1 innings during that span. Severino is on pace for a career-worst 6.9 K/9, but he's been solid otherwise in his first season as a Met, posting a 3.12 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 78 frames. Rotowire.com Today, 12:15 am
    • Kirby Yates whiffs three in save against Dodgers
Kirby Yates struck out three in a scoreless ninth to get a save against the Dodgers on Thursday.

Advice: Yates did allow a walk, but this was a much better effort than the one he had Wednesday when he picked up a save but was fortunate to not blow the opportunity. The right-hander has been outstanding for the overwhelming majority of 2024, and this scoreless outing gives him a 1.11 ERA along with 10 saves. He isn’t giving up this closing gig. Not anytime soon, anyway. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:09 pm

    • Severino allows one in no-decision Thursday
Luis Severino allowed one run in six innings and got a no-decision in the Mets’ 3-2 victory over the Marlins on Thursday.

Advice: Severino gave up seven hits, walked three and struck out two. He’s allowed only one run in three of his last four starts. Severino’s two strikeouts were a season-low for him. His ERA is now 3.12 on the season. The 30-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rangers on the road next week.

    • X-rays negative on Nolan Arenado’s right hand
X-rays came back negative on Nolan Arenado’s right hand.

Advice: Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol told reporters Arenado is day-to-day with a bone bruise in his right hand. The 33-year-old third baseman, who finished 0-for-4 on Thursday afternoon, appears to have avoided serious injury after being hit by a pitch on the back of his right hand while striking out swinging during his final at-bat. He might require a couple games off to let the pain and swelling subside, but it doesn’t appear he’s facing an extended absence. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:45 pm

    • X-rays on hand negative
X-rays on Arenado's right hand game back negative after he was hit by a pitch during Thursday's win over Pittsburgh, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Arenado struck out swinging on a pitch that hit him in the hand during the eighth inning. He immediately headed back into the Cardinals' clubhouse to get checked out, but manager Oliver Marmol said Arenado simply suffered a bone bruise and is considered day-to-day. The 33-year-old is slashing .273/.340/.386 with a home run and five RBI since the beginning of June. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:28 pm

    • Raisel Iglesias gets 17th save against Orioles
Raisel Iglesias picked up his 17th save with a scoreless ninth against the Orioles on Thursday.

Advice: Even though the Braves are struggling to score, Iglesias has had easier save chances than most closers; this was the ninth of his 19 save chances (17 successful) in which he’s come in with a three-run lead and the bases empty. He’s entered with a one-run lead just three times. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:01 pm
