    • Another rehab start coming
Cole (elbow) will make a rehab start with Double-A Somerset on Sunday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Cole made his first rehab appearance Tuesday with Somerset, firing 3.1 scoreless innings with five strikeouts. He threw 45 pitches and touched 97 miles per hour, which is in line with his normal velocity. Cole should see his pitch count lightened Sunday, though he'll likely need at least one more rehab outing before coming off the 60-day IL. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago

    • Out against left-hander
Tauchman is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest in Cincinnati.

Advice: Tauchman has now been out of the lineup each of the last four times the Cubs have faced a lefty dating back to May 22, and he also was on the bench once versus a righty over that span. Christopher Morel is getting a start at designated hitter while Patrick Wisdom plays third base. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago

    • Out of Friday's lineup
Hays (ribs) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rays, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Hays was hit by a pitch in the ribs Thursday against the Blue Jays and will sit for at least one game. Colton Cowser will move to left field while Cedric Mullins starts in center and bats eighth. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago

    • Sitting out after HBP
Hoerner is not in Friday's lineup in Cincinnati after being hit on the hand by a pitch in Thursday's win over the White Sox, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Hoerner was struck by a pitch in the fourth inning Thursday but stayed in and finished that game. He underwent a precautionary X-ray afterward, which evidently came back clean. However, it could be dealing with some residual soreness, hence his absence from Friday's lineup. Consider him day-to-day. David Bote will handle second base Friday. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago

    • Josiah Gray (elbow) scheduled for first rehab start
Josiah Gray will make his first rehab start Sunday for low-A Frederickburg.

Advice: He’s slated for at least two rehab starts and probably will need more. The right-hander has missed two months with a flexor strain in his elbow. Rotoworld 10 minutes ago

    • Should avoid injured list
Manager Aaron Boone said Soto, who is out of the lineup Friday against the Dodgers, had imaging on his left elbow come back clean in addition to being diagnosed with forearm inflammation, and the outfielder could be available this weekend, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 25-year-old doesn't appear to be dealing with a severe injury and should be considered day-to-day. A quick return to the lineup this weekend is plausible, though Soto is certainly not guaranteed to see the field versus Los Angeles. Trent Grisham will enter the lineup in his place and man center field Friday, pushing Aaron Judge to right. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

    • Cade Cavalli (elbow) doing sidework with Nationals
Cade Cavalli’s minor league rehab assignment is on pause as he travels with the major league club.

Advice: Cavalli, on the way back from Tommy John surgery, threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings in Rookie ball on May 20 and then allowed two runs in 2 2/3 innings in high-A ball on May 30. Rather than keep him in the minors, the Nationals currently have him throwing with the major league team. It suggests there’s no real chance of him pitching in the majors before the All-Star break, not that it ever seemed very likely anyway. Rotoworld 12 minutes ago

    • Throwing 50-55 pitches in rehab
Gray (elbow) will throw 50-55 pitches during a rehab start with Single-A Fredericksburg on Sunday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Gray got up to 76 pitches during a live BP session prior to being sent on a rehab assignment but will be limited to 50-55 pitches in his first appearance. If all goes well Sunday, Gray will head to Double-A Harrisburg for another rehab start. Gray will likely need at least one more outing after the start at Double-A , making late June a feasible timeline for return. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

    • Gerrit Cole’s next rehab start slated for Sunday
Gerrit Cole’s second rehab start as he returns from an elbow injury will come for Double-A Somerset on Sunday.

Advice: Cole also pitched at Somerset his first time out. He’s expected to make at least one more rehab start in addition to this weekend’s. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago
